And at the same time act like they're "poor"? I can go into another argument about living beyond your means but that's not the question of this post.

Question is, how do I keep hearing about all these well off couples and what not with outrageous salaries ranging from $200k all the way up to $500k+, and it's so commonplace almost like it's normal? I know they're statistical outliers but I need to know how it's so common and how to get into one of these legend tier jobs. I know FAANG aren't the only employers who offer these outrageous salaries, someone PLEASE tell me the secret of getting into these jobs.

P.S.: I know many of you will answer with stuff like "nepotism" or "i got invited into private equity out of Wharton" or some shit like that, but again I'm asking about the commonlity of such jobs and how to get into them like it's a casual walk in the park kind of thing.

how long have you been on the internet? if it took up most of your day before the year 2010 i dont see how you could be below the 90th percentile in terms of income. there was too much good advice and obvious opportunity.

it's not a casual walk in the park type thing. You need a high IQ and decent people skills, good looks and a master's degree also helps, then you have to grind away learning skills that most people find too hard/unpleasant for years and hope that there aren't too many other people doing the same thing so that supply of your valuable skills outstrips demand by the time you're an expert.

You get a shit job and brown nose like everyone else

A guy I know in Florida was walking around asking millionaires if he could take pictures of their yachts for his portfolio and give them copies for their own pleasure, one of the guys just straight up hired him as a realtor photography whatever for yachts/luxury apartments and he went from working at Dairy Queen to making 300k a year just like that

That all depended on taking action right at the right time though (in terms of entrepreneurship at least). Now with everything looking oversaturated if not already getting ousted by AI & robotics, I don't know where to look/turn to.

Tech or engineering degree, plus licenses/certifications/grad school/other credentialism, plus actually being good at what you do, plus enough experience to be in a senior level role.
Anyone saying they make that fresh out of school is lying. Not have at minimum 5-7 YoE is lying. Only a bachelors is possible but incredibly unlikely without decades of experience (as proven by the BLS, wage stats are public).

The reason you hear it so often on this dogshit website is because everyone here is incredibly fucking autistic and autists naturally gravitate to STEM.

1. Be really really smart
2. Go to a good school
3. (Maybe) go to a good law/med/business school
4. Get into a good job

That's the most straightforward way. Easy to make $200k+ right out of law school in big law, going up to $500k+ in a few years and if you're a full partner you'll make like $5MM-$20MM+ depending on how the firm does. It's kinda a shitty road getting there but that's it.

You can describe these paths pretty well, like lax bros going into finance, etc etc

What do you mean "on this board"? Most people here are either NEETs, or massively exaggerating their wealth/income. Don't believe everything you read on anonymous imageboards. There are some rich people here or there no doubt, but if you think that's the norm you're retarded

That's after 12 years of waging (legally). It's comfortable but definitely have to save up to have nice things. I don't have a degree but tend to collect on-the-job training like it's free. I'm probably leaving $40k of earnings on the table for not having pursued higher education.

I'm a late 30s Boomer in tech but what people don't realize is back when I studied CS it was extremely unpopular. People thought an engineering degree was superior, or law or medicine etc.

Now CS is one of the most popular majors so the field is saturated. Anyone going into it now won't get the same gains as the previous generation.

You need to find something unpopular and hope it goes up of you want to make it.

I did it by applying for a job & getting hired.
I'm also one of the top performers. This isn't relevant to the story since it didnt increase my pay. I fuck up constantly but the bar is low.

I make $150k and I am still poor. I live in the Boston area which has the third-highest rent in the nation and did a PhD (chemistry) so didn’t really start making any money till I was 27. I’m 33 now and still can’t afford a decent house but I could certainly finance a shitshack for thirty years and kms. Whatever you do, don’t do a PhD in anything unless you’ve got a really clear idea what you want to do with it. And don’t live in Boston, ever

To address your question about how to get into these high paying jobs without nepotism, generally speaking you either have to truly excel at something or work in a very undesirable field. I’ll give a few anecdotal examples of people I know who made a lot of money, and how they got there:
1) Brian. CS nerd. Genuinely good at what he does. Very good school. Graduated 2014. Started making very good money, upgraded to retarded good money, soft-retired in his late 20’s. As far as I know, it was some combination of good timing and who knows maybe crypto but he quit his job to work for himself when he was like 26
2) Emily. Majored in Egyptology and visual arts. Parent worked in Hollywood. Parents connections got her a job right out of college. She was genuinely skilled in graphic design, and she worked hard, but definitely moved up much faster due to her “in” with her parent. Now in her early thirties making ~$150k
3) Chris. Bachelors in ecology from a state school. Fumbled his way through multiple jobs in his 20’s, with nothing coalescing into a career. Retrained in aircraft maintenance in his early 30s and now is making ~$135k in a very low cost of living area, but he’s still working overnight shifts so not ideal.

Lmk if you have any questions about my path or these other anecdotes, they’re all real.

I’ll probably clear somewhere between 200k - 250k after tax this year. 33yrs old. Two remote jobs bro. You need to stop thinking like a fag and think outside the box. Theres a lot of money out there but it isn’t for dummies or average people. You got 3-5yr before AI completely blows out the bottom. Get rich or die trying. I will say I don’t know how you can survive under $120k/yr. Even at 250k I don’t feel rich at all.

I work finance jobs for two startups. Ain’t giving out details dog.

All jobs have a cruising altitude where once you learn the ropes you cruise at like 8-20hrs a week. Then you add another.

The jobs that offer 200k+ in a single salary usually expect you to work like a slave for them it’s retarded. I work 20 real hours any given week. Maybe 2-4 weeks out of the year do I work 40-50hrs. If you’re smart and efficient like me this is the high leverage way to get it done. You don’t realize how slow and dumb people are, even those in “smart” jobs.

The majority of them do not actually have 200k a year jobs, they are salty brainbroken neets posting bullshit to piss off wagies.

The 1 or 2 that actually do, complain about being broke because areas where getting a 200k a year job is "easy" are usually places like Silicon valley or Manhattan. In these areas, you want to be a lawyer making a million a year or a deloitte accountant partner making 800k or a google tech lead pulling 500k a year, because that's the actual salary that will make you have a good life in these places. 200k is 'poor' in rich areas because living costs are so much greater.

Zero idea...
Millennial here - got rugged graduating after the 2008 crash, graphic design (meme, I know, but I focused on web/ui design) learned to code while couldn't find a job.. Eventually after a few years broke in with a jobe around 50k in 2012, got up to $35/hr peak at next temp contract, $55k at next job, after two years of that burned out.. Couldn't seem to break that $50-$60k range.
Looking back, I think I fell for the job hopping thing. Everyone said you're supposed to switch jobs every couple of years to move up..
But it seems like it's all the people who worked 10+ years at one company are the ones actually making money.

I think people who earn a lot of money are more likely to say it out loud, even when no one asks. That gives off the impression that most people earn high salaries
