Okay, So I got this little side hustle...

I write 8-10k word erotica novellas and put them on smashwords for 2.99

I mostly write Incest and Interracial cuckolding (my two personal biggest fetishes, and smashwords is the only place that allows incest erotica)

I crank the story out, run it through grammerly, us AI to generate a cover image, and then slap some lettering on it with Canva

I average about 3-4 new releases, and have about 60 followers.

I net about 300$ a month from this, my best month was over 600$ and if I don't do anything I'm clearing 150$ off legacy sales from stuff already out there.

The 600$ came from writing a 10 part series, putting part 1 free, and the box set for 9.99 which hit the front page and that rocketed me

I've been experimenting with AI and the results aren't as profitable, but could easily see intergrating it as an aide (but people sniff it out, a BIG release I had had its first review calling out the AI and sales suffered) so I'm weary to use it fully, wont make that mistake again

Anyone else running this hustle? How can I really build this?

I think you could spend effort doing a longer length novella and find a cheap editor review it and charge like $15-20. Quality over quantity.

On the subject of trying something different I made a guide book for how a husband can turn his wife into a black cock slut, made the pen name on it a doctor's name (published by me so my fans would see it in my feed) 3.99 up priced and it did pretty good

thinking of writing a guide for how wives can get their husbands on board with watching them be blacked, a companion piece

Actually I did actually try that, 30k words, priced 4.99 it was a romantasy with a mom/son angle (mom son is usually my most popular genre) did not make the sales necessary to justify it

FUCK NO
And I wrote an 18 year old sugarbaby story and I got flagged, not fucking with that at all

Mom is 38 son is 19 in college, thats the sweet spot, and you can't make a big deal about him being young, can't even pretend that they're younger, just saying 18 ISNT enough to dodge a bullet

I was thinking of doing it using AI, but your post kinda put me off it.
How do they even spot AI? I can obviously tell the difference between AI and a masterpiece, but erotica? They're all mass produced and written with teenage-tier vocabulary, I honestly couldn't tell erotica from AI if I tried.

You can use it subtlely, just get the work horse stuff out of the way, but you need good ideas, you can't rely too hard on it Id say a 60/40 split is enough to pass

I've never really been into reading erotica, but I've written a few stories for free, using AI to do the heavy lifting but rewriting like 30% of it to guide it and to suit my taste and play with new ideas. Mostly around CFNM+ENM, occasionally mixing in other ideas like humiliation, light incest or blackmail, I don't really know how to write sex so I've avoided it, so it's all pretty light and I have a hard time figuring out where to end it.
Despite all that, I've received positive responses and I've been encouraged to write more, but I have no idea if it would sell. Nobody has accused me of using AI but I feel a bit self-conscious at how much I use. Is there something like an "AI-aided" tag to avoid review bombs?
I've found it pretty time consuming too, are you writing 3-4 new releases a month? Feels like it would be hard to keep up with, but 300-600/mo isn't bad.

This post is kind of inspiring, if I get any new ideas I'll try selling as well and see what happens. Do you have any concerns with privacy or this being tied to your real name? That's certainly something I'd like to avoid.

I literally did nothing but put out 4 stories you make a few sales (made aobut 50$ my first month) a few people subscribe and you just kind of snowball from there, every new book is a new chance for a guy to look at your back catalouge and by another, my advice is pick a genre thats a little niche (not SUPER niche) and get those fans

I made a 40k word erotica novel with ai but then I started to worry about my eternal soul and never released it.

Are there other profitable niches in literature for ai slop farmers like myself?

What's your production per hour? Seems like each would take 10 hours minimum per release, per week (you didn't specify new releases per month?), so what's really happening here seems to be you spend 10 hours a week to make maybe $75 per week. Can you estimate your hourly rate of income?

some days I can pump out a story in one go about 6 hours if i really plan it sitting in my car on break at real job

The real problem is, I've let loose every single fantasy I have so I have trouble coming up with new interesting scenarios

How do you decide which things are incompatible with your Christianity?

I was a bit unsure if it was really bad for me to make erotica to begin with but then I just imagined Jesus reading my book to me and felt ashamed ngl.

If it was a normal story that just happened to have a sex scene in it, I think it would be acceptable. But pure smut? No, I don't think so.

there are youtubers teaching it
the problem is that AI has multiplied the writing-slop production times infinity, so competition is super high apparently
