If you're talking web3 wallets, when you connect your wallet it signs a message to prove you own the private key of the wallet. It doesn't send a transaction

It doesn't. It only lets the website know the address you connect with, so all txs suggested by the site will be for that address. I can connect to Uniswap with Vitalik's wallet if I want to, but I can't sign txs because I don't have the private key.

But yes this is true. It doesn't do anything other than let the website know you have a crypto wallet and allows it to do transaction sign popups.

Yeah I tried with an alt wallet with $10 in it, it just kept warning me that it's highly likely it will fail and then just failed, no matter what settings I chose or anything, base btw
