I have less than zero desire to go, should I anyways to make connections that could potentially help my career?

Dress sharp (actually sharp, seek advice), look your best, relax and show up. Be someone people will want to hang out with. If you’re not someone people want to hang out with currently, view this entire thing as practicing social skills.

I don’t care what anyone on this board says, unless you’re in the 99th percentile in some high in demand skill, developing social skills is the one thing that is fairly easy to learn and with extremely high ROI. It’s the way to make friends and get women. Just do the things you already know you should do.

Even if you force yourself to go and somehow manage to make some connections you need a certain kind of personality to actually be able to keep connections active after, it's not a one and done type of thing.

I do recommend making friends if you can help it. The industry is extremely referral-based and what most people think of as the pinnacle of lawyerhood (big law partner) is more of a networking-based salesman role than anything else. But there's plenty of roles that are autist-acceptable and it's going to be what you make of it. Ganbatte anon you got this.

yes, connections matter more than almost anything else. Unless you're such a great lawyer that people HAVE TO work with you. You're going to be spending more time around these people than you will spend with your family. once you start working Connections could be the difference between being employed and unemployed. Not saying you have to be some great social butterfly, you just need to be there and be friendly. There is no escaping the game.

Honestly, yes. Law school is entirely about making connections. The whole school-ranking thing at its core is mainly about whether your law school has a strong alumni network that will hire you because you went to that school.

Sure, some schools only accept smart students, while other schools will take in anyone who can fog a mirror, but the more highly ranked schools can be picky about those students precisely because of their alumni network.
