Maybe you answered your own question. And don't books just manipulate things when they see they are going to take a bit hit. Seems like a game not to be played like casino slots or lottery. Every week I read about hundreds of millions in liquidations.

It's just an institutional tool to guage if people are able to predict the market movement.
If you tell me you're a godlike investor for the past 10 years but you don't want to show me your trade history in full, then the only thing we can do is bet against eachother through something like a leverage instrument by a broker we both trust.
