As a northerner who regards Leeds as the midlanders and Manchester as southern poofs. What Gary describes is poor would be regarded as well off here. Watched his recent vid this morning... This kid had a pair of fucking plimsolls and the spoilt little brat lost them. Me and my sibling only had one plimsoll to share. We wouldn't dare lose our plimsoll. We were fucking proud to have a plimsoll, most kids didn't have a plimsoll. We used to have to hide out plimsoll from the other kids so they wouldn't steal it. So when he didn't have plimsolls, get this... he had to play football in his fucking school shoes. What the fuck... The little brat had 2 pairs of fucking shoes and they had a fucking football. We used to take our plimsoll to our rich aunties (the auntie with the mirror) and take turns standing next to it and pretend what it would be like to be rich and have 2 plimsolls. Oh and Gary's parents... His 2 parents, who both had stable jobs and weren't alcoholics... actually rewarded him for losing his fucking plimsolls by buying him another fucking pair the next year.

Everyone on /biz/ is far closer to Gary than they are to Bezos, whether they want to admit that or not.
Its pretty obvious at this point that the current approach to tax is very flawed, in that the elites can spend millions to not have to pay tax on their billions. When most of us are worried if cashing out our crypto is gonna knock us into a higher tax bracket.
Guy has fuck you money and he's using that to do about something he's passionate about, isn't that what we all want?

in absolute terms, yes. in relative terms, they pay capital gains tax which is much lower than income tax. them paying the lions share despite their relative tax burden being lower just demonstrates the wealth inequality

There's wealth inequality because some people get up at 5am, go for a run, and then go to work on their own business for 12 hours, and other people wake up at 11am, smoke a bong, then watch YouTube all day.
Wealth inequality is a healthy reflection of innate human inequality.

London is the dark money capital of the world, it dwarfs new york. the Brit elites did a fantastic job at the end of world war 2 pivoting to finance and have continued to extract wealth from the people to private islands for generations.

That's what Gary's trying to rally the people against.

But, just like the 1% rallies in 2008, as soon as we see any sort of questions against the elite (old money) we see the group attack each other (fags/tranny/nigger/jeet) it doesn't matter what it is as long as it's not poor's noticing they will be poor forever.

How do you think we got the plimsoll? Clean windows. We didn't have windows in our town or bike sheds. Ye need to have a bike for it to be a bike shed. You know what we called our shed. We called it Home and we were glad to have one. No door, but it was good not having a door or a window. We could look outside at those barefooted unfortunates in the rain and it would warm us up inside. Chemist? When we were sick we'd just take turns chewing the fucking plimsoll until we felt better. The only boots we knew were the ones up our backsides or if we needed to visit the dentist. Some of my best childhood memories were gumming that delicious plimsoll fighting the pneumonia looking out of our home at the power station dreaming about growing up and serving time as a coal shovellers apprentice. It's just what ye did, every kids dream to shovel the coal, ye didn't want to end up in the pit.

Well if ye had no plimsolls you know you'd be going to the pit barefoot. We had one plimsoll... We dare hop in it or it would be worn out before ye could even use it to shovel coal. Our brother died, defending the plimsoll from others who also desired the fine life of a shovellers apprentices, so we had a choice... I got the plimsoll and my sister ate our brother. It brings me joy I was able to help my sister, as I could have ate our brother, kept the plimsoll and traded her for a second plimsoll, but alas there was no second plimsoll to trade her for. She was so upset when I couldn't find a second. It gave her enough strength to walk to the big city and she got a job at hotel next to the train station. She became a doormat at the hotel for the big city folks to wipe there feet on. She promised one day she'd earn enough to get me the second plimsoll and send it to me. One year they needed 3 shovellers apprentices... But only 2 people had pairs of plimsolls. I never found another plimsoll but since no one else had even but a plimsoll they let me in with a single plimsoll. Happiest day of my life that was. Can ye imagine... Me? A coal shovellers apprentice. Only problem was the plimsoll was a right foot, and I was born with two left feet. So I used to have to hop on me right left foot with me right shoe. It was painful, but it was good cos people would think I had a right right foot. At least until I wore a hole in it and my right left foot toe popped out of a hole on the right side and my big toe could be seen on the right side of the right shoe.

it's not like the ultra wealthy are malicious or something. their investments compound, so they buy more assets. their living expenses are essentially zero, so the entirety of their wealth goes into buying more assets. it's logical, everyone would do this. if this goes on long enough, the wealth rises to the top, asset prices rise because of the "demand" for more investments and to buy them poor people have to sell their future earnings to the rich in the form of debt, which is just another asset for them to buy. everyone acted rationally here, but the result is a society in which almost everyone is unhappily scraping by while the rich don't notice any increase in happiness. sometimes systems don't work out if everyone acts in their own interest. some systems work out beautifully on their own, some require regulation. this is one of the latter

There’s a certain level of youthful naïveté where you think there’s some benevolent government just waiting to redistribute the assets of billionaires to the poor and needy.
Growing up is realising that the government are even bigger grifters than the billionaires, and every penny they get from the rich (who earned it through innovation and risk taking) just goes into the pockets of the government’s cronies (who didn’t earn anything).

Like everyone else. You and I are doing the same thing.

>their living expenses are essentially zero, so the entirety of their wealth goes into buying more assets.
Their living expenses are 1000x higher than ours, it's just a smaller percentage of their networth.

>it's logical, everyone would do this.
Except they don't. There are plenty of rich people that end up poor making stupid decisions and there are plenty of poor people that stay poor because they'd rather have a new Cadillac in the driveway instead of investing their savings.

The rest of what you said is just empty platitudes. Wealth isn't a zero-sum game. People aren't forced to take on debt, they choose to.

It's not Elon Musk, or Jeff Bezos's fault that you can't afford a 2,200sqft house in your local town on a single income. It's not their fault grocery prices are more expensive. It's not their fault your electric bill has been increasing.

Economics is incredibly complex and breaking it down to 'le rich people have ruined it!' is chimpanzee-tier thinking. But sure, go ahead and tax the rich more, they totally won't outsource more jobs. Let's give everyone more welfare, I'm sure flooding the grocery stores, car dealerships and residential housing market with more cash will solve the problems.

>who earned it through innovation and risk taking

While its not wholly untrue, some did indeed start from next to nothing and made themselves rich, most were born into a life of privilege. Even those often touted as self made men, were hardly born in poverty like Warren Buffett (son of a congressman), Bill Gates (son of a law firm owner) and Elon Musk (son of a emerald mine owner).

Sure the governments suck, but at least they are answerable to the people eventually.

How exactly do you tax the rich?
The motto of the ultra rich is to not own anything, but benefit and have control it. It's technically owned by trusts, shell and holding companies etc. You don't need to personally own houses, cars, yachts, private jets, art collections etc. to use them.

yes. the difference being that our investments are a drop in the bucket. if we ever get to the level where the wealth asset taxes would apply, the will do so for us as well. this limit can be very high. what would you be comfortable with? 10 million net worth? 100 million? everything after that you pay 90% tax or something on asset returns. as an idea to address the inevitable kneejerk reaction, business owners get to rescind part of their ownership to the company itself, gradually turning it into an employee owned company, still allowing it to use the full amount of worth for operations. these are just random ideas, but i hope you see that these issues are not insurmountable, they just need to be thought about and addressed. there is no political will to do so right now, but that can and should change

>Their living expenses are 1000x higher than ours, it's just a smaller percentage of their networth.
true, and they earned that 1000x and should enjoy their life

>Wealth isn't a zero-sum game. People aren't forced to take on debt, they choose to.
if your wages are not keeping up with prices, your choices are limited. you can choose to let your children be cold for a few months during winter, but i wouldn't call that "free to choose"

>It's not Elon Musk, or Jeff Bezos's fault that you can't afford a 2,200sqft house in your local town on a single income. It's not their fault grocery prices are more expensive. It's not their fault your electric bill has been increasing.
there are many factors, but compounding investments by the rich increasing prices of essentials is one of them that can be addressed without any real noticeable harm to anyone. why not do it?

>How exactly do you tax the rich?
gary suggests taxing assets, so it doesn't matter which legal entity owns them. not sure how to make sure it only applies to the rich then though. it's definitely complicated to do right, but i believe there are smart people with solutions, what's needed is the political will to do it

No, I am farther from Gary 100% not on a money basis but and ideological one. He is quite literally a marxist foriegn agent and any sane society would cement his feet and send him to the bottom of the English channel

Worse than the idiot socialists, he knows he is wrong. Thus can be considered nothing more than malicious and evil

And in a globalized world the rich can just fuck off to or move their wealth to more tax friendly jurisdictions.

Well, ok. I'll just sell all my real estate and buy a billion worth of bitcoin and take out a loan against it. Tax that.

i think the idea is that you tax the asset. it does not matter where the owner of the asset lives, they get taxed by the country the asset is in. if you want to own real estate in london, you have to pay the asset tax to london

that would be fine, since you are no longer competing with regular people for real world assets. it's not about taking away the money of the rich, it's about reducing the negative impact it has on others

If all the west was to implement this together though, then that would be different. Either pay your share or live in a shit hole. If you want: nice roads, reliable power, high speed internet, fair policing, reliable health care, fire service, mail service, and all the amenities that brings like shopping malls, fancy restaurants, parks, nightlife. You'll stay and pay for it.

He doesnt debate, the few moments he did he gets wrecked. He speaks alone into a camera with the same technique every video, droning on about surface level finance and precisely at the moment when the zoomer audience tunes out, he drops the payload

"And that's why we need to tax the rich"
It doesn't even logically connect to his previous rhetoric

the big reasons why he is wrong, besides the blatant manipulation that only works on low iq

1. Quantity of wealth- simple mathematics can show that the needs of the bottom far outweigh the holdings of the top. There is no utility in equal distribution beyond satiating a perverse envy
2.inequality is not the problem- the problem is the struggle of the bottom, not the gap that exists between them and the top. If bezos had 4 quadrillion but everyone else had job, home, family, freedom, then the gap does not matter. Its a misdirected fixation

Those are the big ones for me but there is literal dozens more

It's not that I'm against the wealthy paying their fair share, but the problem is reckless wasteful government spending, welfare leaching and wealth extraction by central banks. It doesn't matter how much taxes are collected if it's just wasted away. It's like giving a junkie money every month hoping he will do something useful with it.

They can take your lifetimes worth of taxes payed and just waste it in some bullshit. That's what you should start to be mad about.

Yes but the problem is that Bezos has 4 quadrillion whilst the median person owns nothing and has no money.
Our economy is constantly growing in productivity but this only seems to afford any benefit to the very richest - the quality of life of the average man keeps going down. This is a real problem.

nobody doesn't recognize that. But that problem is not caused by a lack of taxation on bezos. There is ample supply of people who are ok with low wages (the status quo). incidentally, many of them are immigrants, the people gary loves so much

(let's forget the fact that immigrants have been a net loss for every western nation)

if 80% of people were not ok with wages, you will see things like during the industrial revolution. everybody eventually wanted to work for the factory owners who didn't exploitmaxx on their employees. If working conditions are shit because some guy at the top is taking 90%, all that needs to happen is for a bunch of guys to stand up and compete with him on wages. That did happen, and thats how we got where we are today (i.e. you have holiday and sick days instead of working literally every day except christmas)

But thats impossible because were all addicted to importing $2/hr jeets

then after 3 generations they'll need to find a next group to import and exploit so they can send money to their shitty third world home via gc*sh

Like I said before, the problem is the bottom having nothing, not the top, not the gap between them. Ive also established that there is no utility in robbing the top, because the aggregate wealth of the top is insignificant when divided by the massive amount of people in the bottom

If you want to help the poor, you do it by teaching them, not by giving them stuff

The endgame of mass migration is equality.

>Why should my kids earn $200 a day to do something that an African or Paki will do for $20 a day? How about we bring over enough to saturate the market so it balances out and you both earn $30 a day? You get a bit of a pay cut they get a pay rise.

That’s literally the mindset of the champagne socialist. I spoke to one and he admitted that he thinks that’s fair

it's a strong psyop, by its nature

people will very quickly listen to you if they have the perception that you are a bottom dweller who has made it to the top

I know because I use the tactic regularly to persuade people no matter their class

the problem is: low class people often dont appeal to university types and uni types cant appeal to the lower class. If you can strike a balance, which gary kind-of does, you have a very strong force. For regular people this means being born into a lower class family and being a high IQ outlier or perhaps having some mental superpower illness like assburgers. Certainly, gary is skilled at persuasion via emotional arguments

The problem with gary is that his arguments can only work on university tier midwits. not the realest chads. because as pointed out ITT his argumentation is completely false; the rich are already taxed

Ironically, in a globalizing economy, that shit they dream of (muh fair wages for thirdies) would probably happen faster WITHOUT mass immigration!

which requires funding for schools, teachers, buildings, enough economic stability to allow for learning without having to worry about making ends meet. which is in jeopardy, because of the behavior of the top (which is not malicious, but follows the incentive structure set by the rules of the system we agree to live in)
