Why is no-one discussing the payment processor mafia and the potential for Steam, itch.io to use crypto instead? Don’t these people want to retain their customer base, expand game library, and gain independence?
Jack Dorsey has some sort of crypto payment processor IIRC. Anyone knows if that could be resistant to this type of censorship, or is it already liable to similar acts since it’s owned by him?
Ideally you would have all the prices displayed in your local currency and the crypto you would pay would be set to that currency amount at point of sale.
They could use XMR as it has a very low fee rate and is relatively stable.
The general issue is the potential fees with crypto in general, but XMR has very low fees at least now, and the transactions are comparatively anonymous.
It’s baffling to me how we let ourselves get raped by these scumbags on a daily basis, we outnumber these moralizing scumbags and yet they have such leverage over our daily lives. At what point do we put our foot own on these people’s necks? Can we only rely on senile senators to compete with obsessed millennial wackos?
Steam and itch.io could actually make this very simple >if your game doesn’t conform to the mafia Terms of service, you can take crypto payments only, which are subject to less strict Terms of service
What objections could they have to this? The payment processors could say they are not processing the transactions and thus hold no responsibility. The people could deal with the crypto payments if they really want their “problematic” games. It’s a win-win situation.
>>60694771 (OP)if they accepted BTC they would lose their "legitimate" partners which includes their own fucking bank account. anybody who runs a biz of any significance knows this.
jesus OP grow up.
>>60694771 (OP)they can't do that because BTC is an unstable piece of shit
>>60694771 (OP)Because "gOoD nEwS" mean jack fuck for crypto?
gayben, the fat fuck, hates bitcoin
>oh no the heckin gooner games
Grow up.
>>60694775>if they accepted BTC they would lose their "legitimate" partners which includes their own fucking bank account. anybody who runs a biz of any significance knows this. Why would they?
>>60694786How about you read the whole thing.
>>60694779What are you even talking about
>>60694808This has implications beyond gaming and is something which also has implications for wider crypto adoption. You like payment processors dictating what content you watch, who gets your money, etc?
Maybe they could use stablecoins. But ZERO chance of them using BTC again.
>>60694808>please mastercard and visa, parent my children I belong in a corporate daycarekill yourself you stupid fuck
>>60694816I just wrote that to get your attention, and it is now helping me discern who read my blog post and who didn’t. Neato.
The issue ultimately lies in who controls the money controls discourse. He who gatekeeps what is permissible and what is not decides who can get rich and who not, who is banned and who elevated. Adding crypto has the potential to get rid of these points of failure in general that can be exposed to these influences. It’s about the big picture.
All of you in this thread are ABSOLUTE NEFWAGS and never going to make it.
Steam already used to accept Bitcoin many years ago
>>60694786well that's too bad, he'll have to change his mind
>>60694771 (OP)They did at some point and then BTC crashed to -75% and gay Ben lost all his profits.

Every time alternative payments have been touted as a solution by a corporation or high profile individual they get debanked. It's effectively a death sentence for everyone that's tried it (except now for Ripple). No one wants to spend that kind of cash just to prove a point for gooner games.
>>60694775There's no precedent for something like this. People pretend like it's going to happen but so far it never has.
To add to the already valid points: it wouldn't matter if they started accepting bitcoin anyway because they still accept Mastercard and visa and as long as they do they will have to tip toe around.
>>60694815>What are you even talking aboutPartnership begging is stupid. Most people here do not care about freedom just number go up and partnerships are maibly juet fads to scam people, and don't do anything meaningful for the price of these tokens And steam tried using btc it failed shut up.
>>60694771 (OP)No one cares
>>60695010Why didn’t steam get debanked when they experimented with crypto. List some examples of this happening.
>>60695043>shut upUp your’s.
>>60695023Why would they have to tip toe around. They can have the games that do not adhere to the mafia TOS accept only crypto.
They won’t be the ones processing the payments.
>>60694775>if they accepted BTC they would lose their "legitimate" partners which includes their own fucking bank account Newegg has been accepting crypto and credit cards for fucking years.
A ton of companies have actually.
>>60695076It seems like these people live in 1997 and have heard about bitcoin yesterday.
>>60695069The whole point is Mastercard and visa don't want the games on the platform period. This is how blackmail works. They don't care if you make it bitcoin only they'll still threaten to pull out if they don't drop those games.
>>60694923Don't upset the fresh liquidity.
Yes, Steam accepted Bitcoin as a payment method from April 2016 to December 2017. Valve, Steam's parent company, partnered with BitPay to process Bitcoin payments, converting them to USD to avoid direct handling of the cryptocurrency. The decision to accept Bitcoin was aimed at providing payment options for users in emerging markets without easy access to credit cards. However, Steam discontinued Bitcoin support in December 2017 due to high transaction fees, which had risen from about $0.20 to $20, and Bitcoin's price volatility, which caused issues with transaction values. Additionally, Gabe Newell later revealed that 50% of Bitcoin transactions on Steam were fraudulent, a significant factor in the decision to drop support.
can we all at least agree that Bitcoin is useless?
>>60694771 (OP)>use cryptoCrypto is a scam and its not even a good or original scam, that's why no one except third world dictators and get rich quick schemes use it for anything
>>60695365>>60695376the buttcoin bots arrived
>>60695365They just need to use chainlink (ticker: LINK) this time. I hold chainlink and am willing to have my investment lose at least 20% of its value as a result. You are all welcome.
>>60694771 (OP)If big online storefronts like these ever start using crypto they will use something like LTC or XRP or anything else. Daily reminder my doge, my angels and anything else is a better option for payments than BTC ever will. Anything else is faster.
>>60694808We should be able to buy "gooner" games if we fucking please, retard. The internet is becoming a daycare for retarded little kids that gain nothing from using it but develop a multitude of mental illnesses.

>>60694771 (OP)they absolutely could implement crypto payments but they won't because that's way more work than it's worth at this point. stablecoins will eventually be adopted and run much better than any other crypto or CC.
