What are Monero devs going to do to protect their investments from the imminent 51% attack? Can they fork out the qubic blocks to protect the network or is it over for the future of private finance?

If they're smart, they would just change the mining algorithm at random intervals to disrupt the botnets. That way there won't be as much spare hashrate floating around for 51% attacks on Monero. Raising the memory requirement would also eliminate some of the botnets that mine using less capable systems.

Higher price would help but that's a problem since Monero has been delisted from so many mainstream exchanges. It's much harder for a coin to pump if it doesn't trade on Binance unless it's a low market cap shitcoin which Monero is not.

New possible lore just dropped, what if tradeogre (a popular exchange for monero) shut down operations because it's scared of being used to launder the 51% attack coins? CFB might already be having effects on the economy even if his attack is not real. The visibility of a real threat might be enough for the price to drop and thus security to become actually cheaper as a result.

The devs need to form a strategic council for price increase. I get it that lower price is good for buying up the coin and gaining more profit later but that wouldn't matter if security is also dirt cheap.

it still creates hindrances and distrust for the main use case of monero - p2p cash.
Either we need to switch narratives to something else like BTC and ultimately cuck out, or we need a task force funded by the devs to increase price. How can this be done? The question needs to be researched immediately.

So whats the shit all about? Is there a mining pool thats getting close to 51% of the hash rate? We've had that a couple of times for many coins, and it never to my knowledge actually resulted in a 51% attack because mining POOL isn't a single person. Or is it just all theoretical and its not even close that?

https://gist.github.com/Rucknium/0873b10b6d36ff6c9d6f8f54107d16f7

this is not the first time monero (or bitcoin for that matter) had 51% scares. the last one was even worse because there actually was a pool with 51% for a moment if i remember correctly. there was no evidence of abuse though.

if you want to help:
1. Install Monero GUI wallet for an address.
2. Install Gupax for easy mod GUI miner:
https://gupax.io/

or if you're a linux autist the stack is monerod+p2pool+xmrig.

Another possible way for whales to increase the price is to provide proof of reserves for large amounts of XMR that they publicly promise not to spend, thus locking it for some time and increasing scarcity. Whales that have a lot of it and are in the coin for long term profits lose nothing, but the perceived value should go up in the short term.

We need to increase the price, it's not even about the moon mission at this point but about securing the mars mission.

why did qubic go into stealth mode on the mining lists? wouldn't it have been more sensible to flex with a mh/s comparison? or does cfb want to cover something up? (e.g. a failed experiment) and wasn't there supposed to be a 51% attack this weekend that "surprisingly" broke because according to cfb, qubic is being DDoSed, is there any evidence for this either?

i don't know but someone in this business stinks, everything is too good to be true. of course i hope there will be at least 50-9999x prices but all this that is happening is somehow strange.

I figured this was a nothing burger.
You don't see anything about qubic anywhere on the internet except on XMR threads.

I actually loaded up yesterday at 293. Figured the qubic thing was too good to be true (for them). Qubic is also giga dumping so that's evident they've failed.

It was never going to work though. This was always qubic PR. XMR sub 300 is acquiring generational wealth now that the world is focusing on crypto. Also, exchanges are going to have to list XMR eventually. It's an inevitability. At most they'll do what kraken has done and make it so countries that ban it simply can't trade it, end of.

I have 140 XMR now, pretty happy with my bag. I say I'll sell at $1000 but realistically if this goes to $1000 it's going to $10,000
