Thats a grave misconception. They are developing ways to transact bitcoin via bluetooth.

Bitcoin is here permanently as a dominant currency

The current financial system you live under is

Digital. Banks ALREADY digitized everything. They aren't keeping literal trillions of paper dollars stashed in vaults under each bank

Witnessed.
For every dollar in cash deposits there are 2000 digital dollars and for every digital dollar there are 60 stable coins backing crypto. 120,000 stable coins is the equivalent of $1 in physical cash; unironically weve reached a point where printing physical money takes way too long compared to pressing a few buttons to generate values on a screen.

Categorically wrong. Offline blockchains were feasible from day one, but it would be much much harder for jews to control such a thing, and they obviously cant have stuff like actually decentralized currency you can't manipulate or specoolate on. So NSA conceived Bitfuck (as le "decentralized" "money" - it's neither) to frontrun any such effort and here we are today. Every mention of offline blockchains is met with "HAHA FAGGOT THATS TOTALLY IMPOSSIBLE YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED THE FULLY CONTROLLED INTERNET AND HECKIN SMART CONTRACTERINOS, BECAUSE... YOU JUST DO, OKAY?!" It's truly hilarious that an industry full of people acting like saviours of humanity was started by a mysterious unknown figure (totally not glowies) and is headed by russian pedos, con artists and fraudsters and nobody finds it strange. Cryptofags actually celebrate the fact that their bags of "decentralized" cyberhornet money are now completely on the mercy of governments.

did you ever understand Open Transactions? "Federated" servers... and you can move money from 1 to another.. some how.. with magic hashing. It needs an iQ 50 points higher than mine to grok
>Open-Transactions democratizes financial and monetary actions. You can use it for issuing currencies/stock, paying dividends, creating asset accounts, sending/receiving digital cash, writing/depositing cheques, cashier's cheques, creating basket currencies, trading on markets, scripting custom agreements, recurring payments, escrow, etc.
>Open-Transactions uses strong crypto. The balances are unchangeable (even by a malicious server.) The receipts are destructible and redundant. The transactions are unforgeable. The cash is untraceable. The cheques are non-repudiable. Etc.

https://www.opentransactions.org/open-transactions.pdf
>A low-trust notary could replace conventional transaction servers and would allow users to gain access to safe, fast, inexpensive, off-chain transactions with increased functionality. We propose a solution that enables parties to contract with each other without being able to defraud each other, and to issue currencies and to prove all balances, as well as prove which instruments are
valid and which transactions have closed, without storing any history except for the last signed receipt. Theft of reserves and counterfeiting are prevented by storing cryptocurrency reserves in multi-signature voting pools consisting of notaries who audit each other in real time and then vote multi-signature on the blockchain to release coins only when authorized by usersโ€™ signed
receipts.

they do transactions in batches offchain, settling p2p or via local hubs, and then regularly check back in with the main blockchain, settling batch transactions and reconciling account balances iirc

i believe some mobile money solutions intended for use in the global south do stuff like this. Mandla money?

you can also do paper vouchers, like cash with QR codes on it basically so you can scan it a point of sale and check the balance of tokens attached to the paper money/cash voucher

this is technically true but a lot of our current system is running on tech that's decades old and being kept intentionally obsolescent because it benefits parties who have cornered certain parts of the market/system (SWIFT is a good example for payments messaging but there are others, visa and mastercard being two)

And? We're probably going to have tech that can consistently read our thoughts in our lifetime, the money will literally be in our mind and/or how we "experience" the internet will change. It's too delightful for control freaks to cut the internet and associated knowledge of it, YOU will be the internet, a node on the internet of bodies. And so, (faith in a) digital currency is necessary.

Be nice and patient to kot, I started getting chummy with my cat 3/4 years after I got her. Always be ready for cuddle time and initiate it or answer your cat's call for it. But I think maybe some cats don't want to learn too, too free and wild. In my experience guy cats aren't as cuddly, but they're usually friendlier. Girl cats are more prone to being divas, but will be more into being pampered.

true you are right, this cat is only about 1.5 years old. my last cat was 12 years old and she stayed with me all the time so I miss that a bit. last night i started giving her some snacks while sitting on the sofa. and she came to stay with me again. and even laid down and napped by my leg. Now I'm pavlovpilled i guess.

I recently bought $500 of bitcoin with the intention of dollar-cost averaging over the next decade, as I'm told bitcoin will be worth much more in that time.
anyways I had an old coinbase account so I just went there and bought the bitcoin. but now I'm confused, because, isn't that bitcoin stored in coinbase? how is it "mine"? I see people on here talk about a wallet or something but if coinbase shuts down isn't that money gone? how do I actually "own" the bitcoin without relying on coinbase?

Two lightning nodes that have opened a payment channel can transact with each other offline (Bluetooth, NFC, serial whatever) but that's just layer2 settlement between two nodes, nothing happens on layer1 chain until one of the nodes gets back online. So yeah internet is needed, but temporary loss of internet between lightning nodes doesn't prevent transacting.
Those two lightning nodes might be a grocery store and a payment gateway. Meaning the grocery store can still accept payments even if offline for an extended period.
Or those two nodes could be my phone and your phone.
Things are moving fast
