I would suggest not going into accounting, period. I work in accounting and the push for AI and outsourcing is accelerating. There will always be accountants, but with all the grunt work automated and offshored, the amount of positions will only be a fraction of their current size. My plan is to save and invest as much as possible before the jobs shrink.

There's a big difference between accounting and bookkeeping.

Accounting professionals will always be around, specifically forensic accountants. Good bookkeepers will always be needed, and in the industry I'm in I don't see how AI will supplement the existing software. That's just my opinion so take it with a grain of salt.
