Usually with used items there are no paper trails, a lot of people buy stuff at flea markets, garage sales, thrift stores etc.
I buy a lot of stuff with cash from Mexicans that source bulk vintage clothing, hats, shoes etc.
A lot of people buy electronics on fb market / Craigslist and repair / restore it.

I report my costs honestly, i love ebay because it btfos the ecommerce chink shit oversaturation, my margins are great compared to the fags who dropship chink shit and have to compete with the same factories that make the stuff.
Used stuff / vintage has better value because its rare and low supply

If you have to file a 1099-K for eBay, you are paying taxes when your item sells AND when your taxes are due.
You also pay fees out the ass to eBay to a degree.

At this point I've realized how much of a joke it is to report anything under $10k ever. No one's looking at or noticing that in this massive mess of transactions and cloudy data. Only 2 groups of people ever get audited in this country:

And if the welfare side of it isn't intuitive I'll say more, it's because they're very easy to stick legally. Usually the IRS has all the data they need already since their income is entirely through the state and their data captured in its entirety. It's open and shut.

When you talk about a low income small business owner the paper trail is ridiculously hard to follow, prosecute, and then your ROI is minimal after the dust settles.
