Got scammed at Meijer buying frozen pizza

I liked the packaging I thought I was a small town mom and pop pizza shop from traverse city. If you don’t know traverse city is a very popular vacation town in Michigan and anything associated with it sells well and is usually considered “high quality”

Well, I got it and it was terrible. I looked it up and it’s not even from traverse city. And there is not even a traverse bay pizza restaurant anywhere in Michigan.

It’s made in a random factory far away, that is in Walker, MI. Which is coincidentally where the Meijer headquarters is.

So basically Meijer makes some cheap shitty pizza adds misleading advertising and sells it for $11?

How is this even legal? There is literally an arrow and a star pointing to traverse city…

This happened to me I once ordered an Italiano from an "Authentic Italian" pizza parlor and when it arrived there was faeces on it

To be fair, it does say Made in Michigan, not Made in Traverse City. In fact it only has the words Traverse Bay, not Traverse City.

Yeah it’s misleading, but not an outright lie like the apples I bought at Vons. The bag said “Envy Apples” and “premium picked apples: taste the difference” and “tasting is believing.” Well guess what they were literally just the regular apples that you can buy individually. Tasted no better.

Why would you think this is illegal? Anyone can register a trademark for anything they want. I could register "Traverse Bay Calzones" right now and let you buy all the mail-order calzones you want from Chicago. Just because it says "Traverse Bay" doesn't have to mean it's made there.
