Mike was never portrayed as a Homer Simpson type wage slave. He was a successful architect.

In 1970, a household income of $20,000–$25,000 would place the Bradys in the top 10–15% of U.S. households, aligning with their depicted lifestyle.

Not arguing the 1970 lifestyle was not more feasible due to lower housing costs relative to income. But Mike Brady would've been pulling close to 500k/year as a senior architect in the LA area in 2025.

Lifestyle deflation, people spent a lot less. One road trip vacation a year was a luxury.

We unironically are. The total global happiness has never been happier. Sure average whites in white countries might now be as wealthy and happy but the developing nations and people immigrating to the west gain more happiness than the happiness whites are losing from losing out on their privilege as the world heads to a more fair, just and equitable and inclusive future the total happiness is increasing!
