>50% off current prices for paying with litecoin, a volatile asset
so, do they expect a ~50% appreciation in litecoin price in a year or so, or how long do they want to hold litecoins on their balance sheet?

Its big in the sense that this is the first push into crypto by retailers. Not walmarts vechain partnership or jp morgans onyx chain.

Its real customers paying for real world items using internet funny money.

wtf are you talking about there's been dozens of these types of announcements in the last decade, even this sheetz company started accepting bitcoin last year. every single time it's a complete nothingburger, nobody is going out of their way to learn how to use crypto to buy stuff when they can use fiat instead.

And most if not all of them retraced back into only using fiat. Now that crypto is becoming more mature, i dont see them making another U turn again.

I get what you mean, but until walmart puts a pay in LTC/BTC in the check out lane i consider this to be the actual first use case scenario for customers.

But in all honesty. Cake wallet allows you to purchase visa gift cards with monero.

>>60752551
More or less they will instantly arbitrage most of their litecoin during the purchase back into fiat directly. This doesnt mean that they will own any litecoin but this is a great step forward.

This is realistically how companies are going to seemlessly exchange crypto back into USDC/USDT without relying on a centralized exchange like coinbase or binance.

Amp is a solid platform that really pioneered how retail customers can pay with crypto directly. Albeit it requires a proprietary coin like AMP.

Why are these rebranded truckstops popping up everywhere around me? I never heard of caseys, sheetz, and a couple more 5 years ago but there are about 20 of them within 15 miles of me. I went to caseys once to check it out and everything was more expensive than the speedway across the street so i never went again

Strange, I read that Sheeeitz is allowing BITCOIN to be used for payment. Nothing mentioned shitcoins, but if they're going through PayPal maybe they take three or four others.

Apparently it's a promotion through a third-party payment processor that accepts Bitcoin and maybe some other shitcoins.

The third-party payment processor is doing 50% off for up to $15 in purchases (so, not half off if you buy thousands of dollars worth of stuff) and limits it to a few separate purchases (so that people can't keep going back for lots of small purchases). Sounds like the third-party payment processor is doing this to try to get people to use their app, and is willing to waste up to $75 per customer that they onboard.

bitcoin doesn't have scalable self-custody, and the security budget hinges on either the price at least doubling every for years or the fees being permanently high. some people don't like that
