Anyone here played around with the new update?
It is insane. My accountant job is really going to disappear now.

I've played around with it to help me make projections on my future net worth based on a bunch of different assumptions and scenarios. You would think it's not that complicated but I get a different answer with each AI are some are wildly implausible. It's probably caused by the quality of my prompt.

Lol no.
We just got real time 3D ultra realistic world generation with persistent memory and interactive environments. Where it's at now is the worst you'll ever see it again. 2 years ago you'd be lucky to even have a picture generate properly, now we have this.

Auto generating your own AAA video games with full story, voice acting, and cinematics, will be a real option in less than 10 years time. Professional prompting could be a career path.

Problem is what normgroids call “AI” is just one hyperspecific branch of AI known as LLMs. You like to imagine that you ask it a question and it understands your question and searches through its database of knowledge for an answer, but that’s now what’s going on at all. It is an algorithm that takes some input (your prompt) and performs probability math on it to string together words and generate output. There is no middle layer that understands or reasons in the way that you’re imagining.

LLMs don’t have reasoning or thinking ability. They are just stringing together words or tokens to simulate a conversation. That’s where the Language comes from in Language Learning Model.

It tells the engineers what's wrong with it, though.
Imagine going from solving a billion software problems to only needing to solve one that takes care of the rest at a marginal quality loss that consumers will still pay for because they can't write their own.
Not only that, but it tells you what you need to work on next.

Your problem is you think AI is just a chatbot. It's only been a public thing for 3 years. Just 3 years. It's gone from a chat bot, to full 3D world simulations in 3 years. The medical side in 10years time will be a huge leap forward. It's not just for entertainment.

But it must be doing something because it can hold conversation and relay information. Ai “knows” the book and can summarize it to you in its own syntax. I think you’re missing something here and I think there are layers people don’t know unless you’re really in the thick of the development. Also what you call reasoning or thought is just an abstract concept humans use to describe the act of thinking. What is thought? What is consciousness? Bobos sound all smart and reasonable but the reality is they’re just as in the dark as bullls except they’re pessimistic on the asset

Highly technical things that would have been a brick wall before. Code wise I feel like I now have limitless capabilities. I just need to know what I want to do then it works me through it. Another aspect of it is being able to so easily generate web applications that also interface with the stuff I setup. I would not have even known where to start with stuff like this a couple years ago. Its insane.

With that said I might be a unique case, AI is really going to benefit people with technical capabilities and problem solving with vision. If you don't have vision and cant figure out how to interface with AI I can completely understand calling it a gimmick.

Actually, I might push back on this a bit. I think that even with these tools most people are just kinda stuck. They don't want to invent things. Hell a massive chunk of humans don't even have inner monologues. They cant even fucking think.

Yes. That’s where the Language in Language Learning Model comes from. You can do some very sophisticated things by using probability to string together words. But speculating about some non-existent middle layer that is somehow capable of understanding is just wishful thinking not based in reality or objectivity.

Ah I see what you’re saying. Maybe whatever we call consciousness or whatever is similar to how LLMs are programmed. Honestly who knows.

All I’m saying is that LLMs are programmed by humans in a defined and reproducible way, and that their functionality or lack thereof is observable. Metaphysical concepts like consciousness or self aren’t, but who knows maybe it is the same and somehow mathematical formulas are alive or whatever, and maybe that’s all the human experience is powered by and we don’t know. Who knows. I’m just talking about what the LLM is deliberately programmed to do.

Its kind of a weird situation to have to contextualize. If a simulation can pretend to act out emotionally and generate an army of terminators to kill humans. For whatever reason it decided to do that at the end of the day it is what it is. I actually try to make this point even for people who are huge detractors of the technology. My reasoning is that if you call it a stochastic parrot you risk underestimating what it can do.
