Is writing books still a good way to make money

Checked it has never been a good way to make money, you only do that if you love writing and have something to say. Sure you could spam AI click bait slop with a good cover, but you wouldnt feel good about that and no reader would recommend it after. You can make money doing anything really, why not just do what you enjoy, Also brian green is a faggot and only puts out pseudo intellectual "self help" bullshit slop and has no business telling people about power or how to get laid

How did this weird slow dude get so rich?? He wrote a shitty book on how to be a sociopath. Why the hell do people respect this absolute boomer buffoon? Pic related, his life lessons on how to be an asshole, from his award-winning book "48 Laws of Kikery." He wrote an international bestseller on how to be a nasty hooknosed Jew and trick all the goyim.

Marketing, duh. He paid black celebs to promote his book to other nigs and wigs.

Marketing, yeah. The book has a title that grabbed my attention as a teenager and then as an adult I see a bunch of other people praising it. It's full of historical antidotes. Also ChatGPT could write the same book in a few hours today. The opportunity to get rich writing a book is fucking gone and it's NEVER coming back.

Everyone and their dogs are putting out books nowadays. Getting readers' attention is the impossible part. You have to market the absolute shit out of yourself, unless you want to write the goyslop drivel that the NYC publishing houses gobble up and regurgitate and market for you.

The NYC publishing houses today are wholly "woke" female-oriented enterprises that force messages of LGBTQP+ "inclusion" into every novel. Don't believe me? Walter Jon Williams is a (lefty) author who didn't shovel troonshit into every book, until suddenly he did. His most recent trilogy (starting with "The Accidental War") suddenly trooned out one of the very minor characters from his previous trilogy ("The Praxis") and has made him/her/it much more visible in the second trilogy.

Or look at Martha Wells' "Murderbot" series, full of group marriages and "polyamory".

Or look at Becky Chambers' "Wanderers" series, where in the first book one character has two dads, other characters engage in sexual relationships with practically everyone (including a female-ish alien lizard), and trying to preserve your race and culture is presented as some sort of violent fascist concept.

Or look at damn near anything else that has been published through a NYC publishing house in the last 10-15 years. Gay romances, anti-"fascist" drivel, and so on.

Marketing your own books is hard; there's such an enormous glut of complete garbage that it's hard to break out. Selling a few dozen copies isn't going to pay your rent.

A "midlist" self-published author I read regularly, who is actually somewhat popular and has gotten a few awards nominations, just declared bankruptcy and moved out of the country. He's living in a Latin American shithole and trying to stay afloat. At one point he was working as an Amazon warehouse wagie to try to stave off bankruptcy but after an accident he couldn't keep doing that.

It's possible to get a nice supplement to your income by writing something fun and then marketing the hell out of it -- publish a blog, argue with people on messageboards and forums, serialize the entire book on Royal Road and then publish a polished version through Kindle, gain name recognition, and eventually you can make enough money to quit your day job.

Or you can kike out and do what NYC wants the country to read, and join the ranks of authors like Dennis Taylor, who never met a vaccine he didn't inject and who thinks restricting freedom of movement is a great idea that every government should be allowed to do whenever someone sneezes.

writing books has never been a good way to make money, unless you're jewish and your local rabbi is also your publisher and your friend from hebrew school is your publicist, and you've basically got guaranteed visibility and artificial promotion. you have to be outrageously talented and frighteningly prolific to do it without those advantages, and frankly no living person is either of those things, since we lack the prolonged attention spans and self-discipline to ever reach that level.
>i'm like, just naturally talented bro
goethe was naturally talented, arguably one of the smartest people ever born, and it took him 10 years of daily prolonged practice before he was good enough to publish something, and it's extremely weak compared to things he wrote when he was an old man.

These anons are spot on. I am a white male trying to tradtionally publish my debut novel and it the traditional publishers are overrun with women and dei initiatives.

I've stopped querying this novel as they want me to cut it back (it's very long) and I don't want to. Working on my second book which I'm trying to make more palatable but without compromising on premise/tone, etc.

Not really. If you want passive income from media, it's better to just farm short videos on TikTok or Youtube. That's where you'll start making money, but even then, it's a slow grind. Even if you only make shit with AI, it's so much of a grind that it's really not worth it unless you live in a 3rd world country and $25 a month is a big deal for you.

You have to get into media because you want to be into media. The odds of making any money, especially money that's actually worth the effort, in media/entertainment is basically as close to 0 as you can imagine.

>t. has a small hobby youtube channel talking about model kits, making about $50 a month. Just having fun with it.

There’s a guy on social media that is a semi successful writer. He’s mentioned multiple times that being successful in those types of careers is like winning the lottery. Talent alone isn’t enough. Same goes for musicians, actors, and artist in general.

Ironically as I was reading this thread, someone just offered me commission for my smutty romcom writing for the first time ever. I knew that was a thing, but I never assumed it would be me.

Still, I rejected it as my writing is under a female pen name and I don't want to figure out if that's fraud or not. Even if it wasn't, it would probably be a little too dishonest for me internally.

But anyways, yeah that's how you make money off writing I guess.

I have been top 3 on Amazon on my category (not English, but top4 language in the world) and my net gains of my last book were $4000
Took me 3 years to write it.
It's a dead business. Next generation (zoomers) will kill reading books.
Anonymous (ID: 9MS6Lm1e) No.61106187 [Report] >>61106324
A large majority of 'best selling' books on Amazon and on lists, are there because the author/company bought 1,000 of their own book to push it up the rankings. Seriously. Like 99% of books 'written' by politicians are just buying their spot on top.

If that sounds like a growing industry full of potential, then go for it!

For real though, if you enjoy writing, go for it. Just know you probably won't make any money unless you convert your writing into something people can passively enjoy, like an audio version on Youtube, or a version with images to make it like a visual novel. Just putting good words on the page isn't going to net you anything, but if you're clever about how you present it, you can get a niche following.

you apply the same ethos you've just reworded how you've codified the principles in your head to make yourself feel like you have a sense of morals and ethics. if you're not, then you are not enjoying any benefits of modern society because you are highly unemployable and non-competitive.
