If you have less than 3-5 years of experience and are trying to break into white collar work as a recent college graduate it is without a doubt the worst job market in modern history.

It'll recover. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act from July reversed the R&D changes from the TCJA in 2022, so now companies can hire engineering grads to be walking tax deductions again, just like the good old days. The only question is will people think >They're hiring again! Business is booming!

It is bad but part of the reason why it’s bad is because AI has meant CVs and cover letters now don’t mean anything. If you’re still trying to find a job this way then you’re going to struggle, and this is on top of a bad economy.
