>I just sat in front of my computer browsing the internet and consuming pirated content
Anon, don't blame FIRE for the way you refused to engage with the people in the world, saying you did it to try to save money to retire or be financially independence is just a lie you're telling yourself, you were choosing a free source of dopamine and hiding from the world because it was easy. Having more money afterwards was just a bonus.
Socializing with other people is free, and with the amount you saved on rent, going out drinking once a week or two wouldn't affect your savings much. Even 99% of hobbies you can get started with like $50-$200 in starter gear or rentals, even sports that need a lot of gear like hockey you can buy shit used for cheap. Even dating can be free if you meet up for a park, or like $5 if you meetup for coffee. Sports is cheap as fuck. Clubbing sucks anyway but really doesn't cost much to do once and realize it sucks.
Doing any of that shit wouldn't have set you back significantly from FIRE. Worst case you would be at 1.2m instead of 1.3m - which is way better than living a life of regret.
So now that you understand this, you feel the regret of a life not lived and you know you can choose to engage in hobbies and socialization without costing much money and that it will be more fulfilling for you, you're not just going to sit in front of a computer for the next 10 years, right anon...?
