Is KCl (potassium chloride) viable as a replacement for table salt in cooking?
I use it every day so yes. I honestly prefer the taste to sodium.
Yes. It tastes a little different, but yes. Plus you get potassium, bonus!
I use it all the time, except I use a 50/50 sodium/potassium one which imo is indistinguishable from regular table salt when it's in the dish
It has a weird metallic taste to me but my wife(male) loves it so whatever floats your boat I guess.
>>21480325OP here, mixed 50/50 some today and it tastes fine, probably don't need to go lower with sodium intake than that
>>21480266 (OP)no they sell "reduced sodium" salt in my supermarket thats 50/50 this crap and salt and it tastes genuinely like ASS, like it was padded with bitter sand
>>21480496then fucking mix it you retard?
>>21480266 (OP)Not really. It tastes quite metallic and should not be used in large quantities. I use normal salt and then add a small sprinkling of this as a supplement.
>>21481033tastes good to me at least i couldn't notice any difference when mixed 50:50 with normal salt
>>21480344>>21480496>>21481033I think the metallic taste is genetic. It literally just tastes like salt to me. I use the stuff not to decrease my sodium but to increase my potassium intake closer to 4700mg.
>>21481152i have high blood pressure
>>21481166Then drink more water to thin your blood
>>21481384nta but I'm 5'9, 130 lbs and I had high blood pressure until I started limiting my salt intake and cut out nicotine and caffeine.
>>21481427It’s funny how at 6’2” 225lbs I’m almost certainly going to outlive you lmao.
>>21481549that's ok, I don't really like being alive anymore
