It does boggle the mind. Maybe we need to be more like naive toddlers, "put it in your mouth, see what happens". I mean, just today /ck/ had a thread about rediscovering peanut butter as a savory condiment, perfectly compatible with pickles on a sandwich. Have you ever tried gin & milk? That's an actual thing, gin & milk, the internet says it's called a "pig's ear" and was served in rural English pubs to your bucolic great-grandfather, and yet you would never think to try it until somebody told you it was already a thing. Just think of all the treasures we've lost to slavish, reducutive culinary convention.
