I mean people genuinely thought the ability to just open a can of soup that had been sitting in a pantry for 6 months and not have it be putrid was living in a post-scarcity utopia, they really didn't know what to do with themselves.

Not all peanut butter is loaded with sugar. You're probably mixing it with jelly anyway so you don't need more sugar. Also, even your peanut butter isn't too sweet to turn into a Thai peanut sauce for chicken and noodles. I've made do many times.

I feel like peanut butter has not been unlocked yet by humanity. We use it for toast, fresh veg rolls, and as a condiment sauce for skewers. But we don't use it as a main for anything really. I think this is true for nuts in general, but peanut butter should be the spearhead I think.

Theres no way it has to only be for deserts.

>we truly used to be a free country.
It does boggle the mind. Maybe we need to be more like naive toddlers, "put it in your mouth, see what happens". I mean, just today /ck/ had a thread about rediscovering peanut butter as a savory condiment, perfectly compatible with pickles on a sandwich. Have you ever tried gin & milk? That's an actual thing, gin & milk, the internet says it's called a "pig's ear" and was served in rural English pubs to your bucolic great-grandfather, and yet you would never think to try it until somebody told you it was already a thing. Just think of all the treasures we've lost to slavish, reducutive culinary convention.

It was in common usage, but since 1 faggot out of 1000 may get the hives from eating peanuts we aren't allowed to use it anymore unless someone gets a fucking legally binding waiver that is notarized with multiple witnesses present first.

By all means try it, but also be warned that housewives of yore were not about a bit of Ye Olde Trolling. I have personally been told by a genuine 20th Century Biddy about how women would adulterate their famous personal recipes when sharing with "friends" (we know how they treat their "friends") and it wouldn't surprise me if the alleged Violet Sandwich were just were just a lil' menopausal prank, er, "social experiment".

Nasturtiums are unironically great. The leaves and flowers are good in salads and you can pickle the seed pods and use them like capers.

Rose and violet creams are some of my favourite chocolates.

Sounds rancid, though that's probably my aversion to gin talking. I would probably just use bitters instead. What I have tried, is making a pumpkin punch so thick with pumpkin that I ate it as a soup rather than a drink.
