I should handwash the wooden ones but I'm a lazy fuck when it comes to what I can get away with putting into the dishwasher. They are very inexpensive so it's not a great loss for me if I need to replace one.
You should only boil wooden kitchen implements if they're been horribly mistreated and need a SUPER deep cleaning.
I wouldn't recommend it regularly as you'll just destroy the wood.
Also after boiling you should have a food-safe wood conditioning oil/wax on hand to rub into the wood to prevent (more) damage from the drying process.

I've never heard of boiling wooden utensils as a way to clean them before. Just rinse them out with soapy water like a normal person.

Nah. I'm not sticking the spoon into a savory sauce if it's still stained with berries or something but if it's mostly wood-colored, I'll use it for whatever.
