I think young bordeaux is too austere and kinda shitty, especially compared to young rhone or young burgundy--for both white and red--well aged bordeaux can fucking sing as good as any wine out there and it ages so so soooo well in good vintages and even "off vintage" bordeaux starts punching well above its price tag with 10 years of age on it.

Don't sweat this just drink what tastes good to you. Also snobs look down on it, so there's that. I used to like it, I'm not such a fan anymore. But that was decades ago, preferences change over time. The wine may have changed too but it was probably more a me issue.

Not actually rich (100k goy) but idk I just don't enjoy Bordeaux and find the other two regions far more enjoyable. And also how is Rhone, rich? You get some serious value stuff there specially cru stuff. On that note forgot to say (but kinda included) cru beaujolais too.

Anonymous No.21625312 [Report]
Trying orange wine for the first time. This stuff, at least this particular bottle, is awesome - it has some of the lightness, delicateness, and crispness of white wine with some of the robustness or 'meatiness' you have with a red. I'm not a wine connoisseur and I just buy cheap dry whites and reds to get drunk - two bottles of wine will usually do me for a big night; it's a better and more panther-like buzz compared to drinking the equivalent amount of beer, which tends to make me feel sluggish. A cheap sauvignon blanc will initally be light and refreshing but will get too acidic, reducing its drinkability. A cheap cabernet sauvignon can initially be good but there's this almost metallic quality that starts rearing its head and leaving too much of an aftertaste by the second bottle - obviously you wanna get more drunk so you'll keep drinking anyway, but you become conscious of it being 'heavy' to drink. This orange wine bridges the gap and is very, very drinkable.

I really have to do some proper wine tasting to determine what I like beyond dry=good, sweet=bad.

It’s good as long as there’s no peppery notes. Usually I like pepper in my cab franc but with Carmenere I think it’s an objective flaw for unripeness. Really soft varietal when they get it right tho, good fruit, very baking pastry and desserty in the tertiary characteristics. Picrel is a good entry expression, very very modestly priced.

Rhône has both cheap and expensive stuff, but the good old cheap and decent Côtes du Rhône is getting more and more hard to find. Nowadays you need to spend at least 10 euros for a decent bottle. 20 years ago you could find good ones for 3 euros.
Burgundy has virtually no reasonably priced wine though. I couldn't find anything below 10 euros for a boeuf bourguignon last week.

if it doesn't even have vdt on the label then it doesn't meet any of italy's legal definition of wine. that said, italy's classification system ensures authenticity, but not every DOCG does a good job at ensuring quality which is why we have all these new certifications and unions popping up. see picrel

I used to drink white wine, back when i was gay.
But now that i am straight, i exclusively drink red.
White wine is for faggots and therefore should not exist, anyone who regularly drinks white should be drawn and quartered.

Admit that you are an alcoholic, and just buy it by the boxed gallon, its way cheaper than standard size bottles and actually alot less conspicuous than loading up a shopping cart with a dozen fuckin bottles of <$10 bottom shelf.

No one hates the grape.
Some people don't like the way it's heavily oaked (or the reverse).

No, good italian wines that aren't denominations exist, though the reasons most that aren't aren't is to save money, so you should look at it on a case by case basis.

I really really don't like the grape.
I really don't, and I've never tasted a wine made with chardonnay only that I've enjoyed.

No. Wine tastes best when drank (directly) from standard shape/format 750ml bottles.
1L bottles are also acceptable.
