I lived in Denver, CO for about two years, and in that time I worked for the best manager I've ever seen, a guy called Dan. He ran a tight ship. He was all about efficient business, and he was also all about treating his people with respect. I opened with him. He showed up early every day to clean. He had young high school dropouts and a few homeless people working for him, and they did very well under him. They got back on their feet.
He had recently moved there from California. In the short time I worked for that franchise, corporate transferred him to four different stores. He took me with him the first time, but he was there maybe 3 months before they moved him again. They were using him for his leadership to set up a ragtag team before shoring him off to do it again. I found it disgusting.
This was back when John Schnatter was going through his controversy over his comments. I was at the Papa John's on Colfax in downtown Denver, right next to Aurora, at the time. We had to get rid of all of our boxes and promotional materials and signs right then and there, anything that had his face on it. That store used to be a KFC, and when it was, it was the site of a double murder. Thanks for reading my blog.
