you aren't making the right food at home or you suck at cooking. I think a lot of people get trapped in the mentality of "compensating" for fast food consumption by making only the most vile health food at home. if you follow recipes and make the actually tasty food at home for yourself you will discover that it is good.

I like to binge in fast food every now and then when I'm travelling, but it doesn't come close to good home cooking.

Restaurants & Fast Food does the following:
1. Uses more salt than you do
2. Uses more oil than you do
3. Applies more MSG than you do
4. Uses more sugar than you do

This combines to make food that seems better than home made because when people make stuff at home they use WAY less oil, salt, and definitely no MSG to make their food. This means you get an "inferior" product that isn't as addicting and tasty. You can easily fix this by using salt, better fats, and maybe some MSG where needed. And of course they use sugar for things that don't even need it, this also helps in addiction.

Partly a skill isssue, but one factor is the equipment they have. Things like pizza ovens and burners that are powerful enough to get a huge wok ripping hot does make a difference. Plus sneaking sugar and msg into everything helps
