My local grocery store has a seafood bar for 20/lb and I realized that if I just fill up my bowl with the roe I am saving 30/lb over what I would have to pay for roe otherwise if I just bought it on its own outside the bar. They expect me to fill the bowl with rice and veggies but they can't do shit if I just take all the roe HAHAHAHA

You save money, but if you look at the regulations of it, it's that they are just using the prepackaged roe that was about to hit its sell by date, and because they are repurposing it, they are able to extend that. It's the same reason rotisserie chickens are so cheap. They just take the packaged whole chickens that were 1 day off from expiry and cook them to sell, and then they can even put those ones that don't sell back into the cold deli counter for an additional week or so.
