walnuts taste like pecans that have gone stale
Anonymous No.21707025 [Report]
Raw walnuts are very bitter and astringent, while pecans are slightly sweet and only barely astringent.

1/10 Ragebait. I reacted.
Pecans actually taste good. Meanwhile walnuts taste awful, why do people even eat them..

i made a salad with walnuts once and i couldn't even finish it because i was thinking 'this should be pecans' with every bite. one of my biggest fuckups, walnuts are useless.

Walnuts look like turkey carcasses, and pecans look like vaginas.

I dry them off before chewing and swallowing them. You can even dehydrate them so they're crunchy again. I used to do that but it's more effort than it's worth.

I'm going to ask in this thread: what the fuck do chefs mean when they describe a "nutty flavor" to something that doesn't have nuts? I genuinely can not get my mind around it. I saw a video where a chef said that cooked butter had a nutty flavor (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnwxoND5icQ&t=6m30s).
I know what nuts taste like, I've had all kinds. I'm not taste blind. But I just can not taste nuts in food that doesn't have it.
Is this some hallucination we're all just supposed to accept is real to seem cultured?

I'd describe it as earthy, maybe with a tiny bit of "burnt" edge

My grandmother had pecan trees. We could pick them up off the ground and squeeze two of them together to crack them.
