traveling makes you appreciate the amount of time the average person needs to work to get a fast food burger. for McDonald the price for a big mac meal set is on average half a hour of minimum wage in that country. the usa is overpiced.

Nah you're just stupid. For instance I guarantee you there is a "Breakfast Snob" restaurant in your area and I guarantee you think it's some cute indie joint because, again, you are stupid. There are thousands of these. There are no new mom & pop places, the few that still exist are on life support.

It's also based on your order history, that's why a lot of these won't even show you the menu until you log in so they can figure out how much to scam you for. The prices never go back down btw, once they have you tagged as a price insensitive customer those are your prices, take it or leave it.

In some cases Covid literally killed mom & pop. In other cases they sold, in many of those cases the restaurant's name remained the same but it's being operated differently by different people which is usually a negative change, at least in my experience. Things haven't gotten much better since then. I never had trouble finding good restaurants, I think the issue is that you somehow didn't notice when they changed.

The food supply chain has gotten so tight that if you’re a restaurant you’re supplying from one of like 4 national distribution mega chains (Sysco, USFoods, Performance, Cheney Bros) and they all stock the same shit. Obviously this isn’t as big of a deal if you’re just procuring raw ingredients and making everything in house but in this era and this economy that’s impossible to do unless you’re charging very high premiums for your products and most restaurants, even nice ones, will cut corners on some things like almost all fried foods being frozen store stuff

In late 2023, I think it was September, my store couldn't get a beer delivery for like 6 weeks. Coke & Pepsi used to send out 2 drivers, now they send out 1 and they're always trying to get away with not putting stuff up. Beer deliveries still get 2 people but they drop off and fuck off ASAP, a merchandiser comes in later. Everything's still pretty fucked.

That's not gonna happen until commercial property values start tanking. I live in a small town in New Mexico and even here the commercial buildings are outrageously expensive compared to what they were just a few years ago. We need a real estate crash, bad.
Anonymous No.21709034 [Report] >>21709043 >>21709048 >>21709491

This will never happen until the public accepts that mass retail vacancy rates are the fault of landlords and a perverse set of incentives where the property is a speculative investment and not a source of rental income. The owner will not accept even a temporary reduction in rent, they would prefer $0 rent rather than 25% less than the last guy, because it affects their equity and the paper loss is seen as worse than accepting a lower rent until the market improves.

This could be solved by changing local laws and tax codes but that would be a financial death penalty for the investors who speculate in commercial real estate, or at least, the current ones with a certain business model where they profit whether or not the property actually gets used (obviously, they could easily be replaced by landlords who actually want to rent out their spaces to shops or restaurants, but why would we want that???).

So they push this narrative that actually that $20,000 a month storefront is empty because of "crime", because of "migrants", whatever. Not because the landlord is taking a tax writeoff instead of lowering the rent to $15,000 or whatever the market will actually bear. And the gullible public laps it up, because the average retard has already been programed to obsess over the Venezuela MS-13 darkie boogyman, these people have never traveled to a high crime country otherwise they would realize that even if the crime rate was as bad as the media wants you to think (which it isn't but let's assume it was), commerce and trade STILL HAPPENS. Because in an actual free market, if shop owners aren't willing or able to pay what you're asking, you lower the rent until there's someone who does.

But this is not a free market it's some fucked up, rich-take-all, fuck-everyone-else monstrosity masquerading as such.

Thanks for reading my blog. See you guys in 3 days.

They unironically do. For 13 dollars (including a tip) at my local burger joint I can get a much better burger, fries and drink. If I didn't have to tip it'd be the same damn price as a wendys/mcdicks. I just refuse to pay those prices so I don't eat fast food and just go to the burger joint less frequently.

I'm honestly curious whenever we see these rounds of mass franchise closures in the news like OP just how many of these "underperforming" locations are actually losing money vs. just having gangbusters traffic. Foodservice is a notoriously low-margin industry in the grand scheme of things after all.
