Donald and Daisy Duck are watching each other to the mobile phones
Today is the birthday of the best duck and his girlfriend. Specifically, Donald Duck's 91st birthday and Daisy Duck's 85th birthday! Happy birthday to these lovebirds!

Also share what you think are the best moments between Donald and Daisy, as well as special Donald moments from cartoons, comics and video games! I would also like someone to post storytime comics here, especially on this day, please.

Since no one is going to post right now, I decided to post a comic, specifically related to Donald's birthday. This comic that I will post is called "The Life and Lies of Donald Duck" in which Donald lied about his past, but often mentioned his mother Hortense and his sister Della Duck. By the way, this comic is from 2023 and 2024, and this cover was drawn by Francisco Rodriguez Peinado, and refers to the comic I mentioned. The code on INDUCKS is D 2023-179, this comic was written by Ragnhild Holmรฅs, and drawn by Cรจsar Ferioli Pelaez and was mostly published in Egmont editions throughout European countries. This comic was translated into English by Alexandra-translates from Tumblr.

The creation of the Duck Avenger is probably one of the biggest moments in Donald's history. For once Donald was allowed get wins over characters like Scrooge and Gladstone without any setbacks. I've always loved reading Duck Avenger stories both classic and the more serious ones like PK.

I agree, the story of Duck Avenger is in my opinion the best highlight for Donald Duck himself. It's a shame that many outside of Europe and Latin America don't know about it except through the video game Pk: Out of the Shadow. I certainly like him as a jerk who wants revenge on those who accuse him of things he's not guilty of and hates being bothered by anyone.

>>148943352
PKNA is a great series in my opinion and the first version of those comics is exciting to read. I also like the relationships between Donald with Lyla, Odin and Xadhoom and that there is a lot of good action. Although the only thing I would like is that they didn't end too early with certain villains (Zoster and Zondag in particular), who would be his biggest rivals. Also the rivalry and friendship between Duck Avenger and The Raider is also an interesting part of PKNA, as is Donald's feud with Raider's son.

If only proper translators/localizers took the care that you did here. I love the translation process and find it a fascinating problem solving puzzle, so it's really cool to see your thought process explained so thoroughly.

In particular I was so happy to hear someone swedish complain about the font in Kalle Anka & CO, as it feels like a very cheap scanlation font rather than something with much more life as fitting these characters. Although I am someone who would enjoy the upper and lower case as well.

He varies depending on the writer. He can be charming if it's a solo story where he frustrates someone who deserves it.

One of my favorite ones is when he's a volunteer fireman and he keeps ruining some fellows who are trying to burn down their shack in a fire insurance scam, only for Fethry to eventually, in an act of putting out the flames, destroys their home with water. "Boy, I hope you have a water damage insurance!"

Fethey makes Donald look better, because comparing the two Donald is always the better duck. Fethry is an ADD loser who constantly fucks up, and no one wants to be around him (which is why Donald gets stuck with him). Donald is a loser but an intelligent one who puts in effort Fethry never would
Fethry is the one character that not only is Donald always the lead of when they partner up, but also the better duck, thereโ€™s basically no one else heโ€™d duo with Donald would have both on

Gladstone is much worse, because it's his luck that makes Donald the most angry, especially when Gladstone is with Daisy at the end. His luck makes everyone the most angry because he gets everything for nothing, while everyone else has to work hard to earn it. He's also Donald's worst cousin, full of himself, and the biggest asshole.

I'd rather Daisy be with Fethry to humiliate Donald and Gladstone, just so Gladstone can feel what it's like to be a loser. I hate comics where he wins.

The emule hitlist is interesting, because it means you might be able to find more there, if you can figure out how emule works. It's a bit like kazaa/napster/etc. (and from the same time period) but the frogscanners use it as their preferred public dumping ground. If that doesn't work, hubs (dc++) is your best bet. You could try asking in the win-o for uploads or hub assistance when it's up again. Be warned that it's very easy to get banned from Perfection, which is one of the main hubs, because the admin expects you to know and follow the rules and you don't get a warning first.

For me, it's the Rosa iteration. That said, I'm certainly not opposed to the eye hagbags version.
Now I wonder if Sciarrone has ever drawn Magica. It should be right up his alley, but some sloppy googling didn't yield any results.

Gladstone is a jerk but there have been stories that try to soften him up a bit. Like how being luckiest actually makes him the loneliest because he has no real friends. Or Gladstone actually being jealous of Donald because how everyone loves and relies on him more. Plus the stories where he hangs out with Donald and Fethry are fun

Unpopular opinion, but I miss Quack Pack and The Legend of The Three Caballeros. At least they focused more on Donald unlike Ducktales and we had teenagers Huey, Dewey and Louie and Daisy's nieces had their first roles in animation. It's not a big deal, I prefer comics more, but those series are definitely special in my heart.

Thank you for this famous comic that fooled the official Disney like a charm and put that disgusting company in its rightful place (they just changed their names). Actually, Donald would really do it, considering what's bothering him in life. Although I find that unofficial comic by Don Rosa before he worked for Disney more brutal when Donald's nephews set a trap for Scrooge and blew the Money Bin to pieces and then discovered their father's true identity. Donald really killed his uncle there.

>>148946390
Meh, Daisy was more of an April O'Neil rip-off, so I'm not impressed with her from that series. Daisy from Donald's Diary was a real "bomb". I love the classics anyway. Pic related.

Disney has been dead for a long time since Walt Disney died. Except in comics.

But I agree with you that when translating, you should explain what exactly it means, since I find many comics translated poorly. Also, in addition to Panini comics that are often translated, you should also read Egmont comics, since there are also excellent comics to read there.

In any case, thank you and you're welcome. :)

I clearly just don't know how to use libgen then, since I couldn't even find those. Thank you, though, anon, I'll use this as a guideline in trying to figure this out- even if they don't have what I need in the collections (I'd need volume 4) they might have the Topolino issues where those stories originally were.

Good mention on the Emule, too. I remember using it many years ago, and had assumed it'd just stopped being used with time.

And 1970, so that's just an unauthorized parody from before he ever was hired by Disney, right? Crazy, I never realized that he was basically a fan artist who got made official.

Pretty cool comic, it's funny how besides the absurdity and dark tone it actually feels very true to the characters and universe

Look at Disney making a really attractive video game that really brings the comic book spirit. By the way, this was made by the Dutch. The funniest thing for me is when Glomgold throws bananas at you. By the way, the game is called "DuckWorld Smart Adventures" and it has an English translation.

Changing styles is fine, but not to the point of destroying originality and saying they're referring to "classics." I mean, just look at these faces. Why did they have to change them unnecessarily?

To make them easier to animate. Three Caballeros attempted to use the original style and it looks like shit and failed. Attempts to adapt the old style in 3D sucked ass too. Sometimes you just have to fucking use a different style. Noone wants to use, or can use, the quality animation of the ancient shorts.
anymore. Get over it. Its like complaining that something like Akira isn't made today. Its fucking ancient. Its like repeating cave drawings. Such quality is lost in times of digital art.

How come Japanese animators continue to push the quality of 2D animation, even though it's "not profitable"? It would seem that you are fans of those stinking fetish styles that are constantly being pushed, starting with John Kricfalusi and ending with Rebecca Sugar, who ruined Western animation, and dirty mega-companies have ruined it down to the smallest detail. Better to transform into 3D than to watch all those grotesque 2D styles that are constantly being pushed. Even though they are experiencing their end thanks to artificial intelligence, that's the only positive thing that has come of it.

>>148968993
