Gravity Falls
So with SU coming back, what would you want from a Gravity Falls revival? Personally I could see Hirsch trying to finally give Wendy a story in some kind of special

Yeah? Hirsch has stated that he regrets not giving Wendy an episode all to herself so you could just do a Wendy solo special, you wouldn't even need the kids back if you don't want to ruin the ending of the original show (or just have it take place during the summer)
Anonymous No.148984985 [Report] >>148985208
I'd be down to hear Linda Cardellini again, but I don't trust Hirsch to write anything good.

Nah, I think its the opposite. I think Hirsch is a really funny writer with some emotional aspect so I believe he could carry a 40 minute character-driven special. He's really bad when it actually comes to planning a story but you don't have that issue with a one time special
Anonymous No.148985422 [Report] >>148988599
It's hilarious how there are people in 2025 who still believe this show has a chance of coming back someday

>he’s really bad when it comes to planning out a story
I don’t think ford and Wendy not getting a lot of time to shine somehow erases how much of a cohesive, masterfully done episode “not what he seems” and “a tale of two Stans” are

I can already hear the le contrarian green texts lol

No, I agree that those episodes are good and that Alex is a good writer but if you listen to the audio commentary as much as I have, you'll start to realise that the fact that the story of GF works as well as it did is a lucky coincidence. The guy had NO idea what he was doing, even during season 2

There's no such thing as a lumberjack girl in real life. You just don't see women on blue collar worksites.

Yes, women like doing things like wearing flannel and bright orange vests to look cute. But they run in fear the second they have to turn on a chainsaw or circular saw.

The 2nd season really needed to be a few episodes longer, and instead all we're left with are missed opportunities and regrets because a full fledged revival doesn't sound appealing imo
Best shot we've got are specials or more comics, and they could either pretend there were more adventures during that summer like in Lost Legends or the twins could come back briefly for some holiday, but otherwise trying to place more adventures in-universe timeline-wise is a big problem

Anonymous No.148991014 [Report] >>148991137

I think a revival could work, so long as it's not just gravity falls itself again. Either a spin off or a sequel set elsewhere, delving more into the supernatural aspects of the world
Anonymous No.148991117 [Report]

Idk man, cartoon studios are notorious reboot prone and I don't think Alex has the Bill Watterson fortitude to keep that idea from happening
Anonymous No.148991137 [Report] >>148991878
>>148990868
More Wendy development, more Pacifica development, those two could form an odd pairing that actually works the more you think about it.
But neither of these warrant a renewal of the show, they were sorely missed opportunities that fit best in season 2.
Bringing back some villain or introducing a new one just invites comparison to Bill, and it doesn't sound exciting without some completely new unique stakes at hand.
>>148991014
Feels like a revival that isn't even set in Gravity Falls or a spinoff featuring other characters completely misses the mark on what made the original series special. At a certain point, it stopped being about the mysteries and more about the cast, their dynamics, and how the town shaped them, with the town itself being its own character that drove the spirit of the show.
A large time skip beyond a year doesn't even sound appealing because now you're missing out on the twins growing through such crucial years without the town to influence them.
That's why more comics feel like the next best bet. It would allow the characters to be explored more in a slice-of-life style without the pressure of having some overarching villain or major impending event.

I feel like despite being arguably the main protagonist of the show, Dipper doesn't have that much of a personality

Throw Wendy into Shapeshifter's freezer and replace her entirely with a monstergirl instead.
Wendy is utterly boring character with no personality and everything about her was just a waste of time. Being 'cool' is not a personality.

A completely different setting in the same universe that references GF as a crazy place where wackadootie shit happens.

Because animated projects are a much bigger investment compared to comics, and shorter form stories are much more suited for the latter
