most of it is really bad. a handful of stuff is good but would probably be better off on any other site/on its own website. very rarely do i see anything that makes good use of the vertical scrolling format vs traditional webcomic format. if you are not into fujo blslop or generic battle shonen the amount of interesting series drops significantly.

best webtoons i actually still subscribe to would be 3rd Voice, Wind Breaker (the one about bike racing), Skin and Bones, Pilgrim's Dirge and (gay but still) Strange and wild

It's no different than other places where people post their comics in that there's a huge range of work from amateur to professional. But personally I hate webtoon for the vice grip it exerts to funnel people onto their platform and their content moderation policies which can be enforced in a very heavy handed way out of nowhere.

Utter garbage.
Radioactive garbage at that, because it's probably what popularized the fucking "scrolling" viewer for sites.
But I digress, it's mostly Gook shit which means NTR slopdrama, with some blatant self insert fantasy.
Outside of cinema I don't think I've ever seen, or heard of, a decent piece done by Gooks. Their comics suck, their games suck, their books suck.
And for your knowledge, most of the stuff that doesn't suck was copied from Japan. South Korea is the devil child from the U.S.A. and Japan, inhereting the worst aspects from both and none of the good ones.

you mean gaytoons? LGBTQ@#$%toons? those fags should just buy tapas, lemoon, blocktoons, gaybit , heck I can just throw names here and itll probably land and stick. Every quirky-cozy-webcomic vomitive type art out there should be cast into a burning pyre, so we can be rid of it. The same applies to everything in the twitch 'art' section, everything is crawling with gay furry art, boylove, girllove bullshit, I dont want to read that shit. I cant even filter it because 'muh transphobia', Im sick of pretending all this garbage art is worth anything, its not cool, is boring and I dont care for it. Where is the ultraviolence? where is the action?

I hope one day an anti-webtoon site rises so I can at least filter all the garbage these people bring with it wherever they go, why dont they just lock themselves up in bluesky or whatever and throw away the key? Neither of us want to mingle so that would be the best outcome really.

T. a fucking frustrated Chud if it isnt obvious by now. Also fuck rarebit for bending the knee to the 'collective' , fuck all of you.

The inevitable result of the normification of the internet. Webtoons is big because it appeals to a market that traditional webcomics, and even traditional print comics, never did. Normies. The lowest common denominator. And that turns out to be women who's prime motivator in a story is seeing characters snogging. And it isn't just here, either. Fantasy was once a genre for nerds, and look what's become of it. Literally nothing but Harlequin-level romance with some magic and sword fighting thrown in.

If you liked webcomics before Webtoons, it has very little to offer you. There is, by accident, the occasional good comic on the platform. Griz Grobus has been mentioned, Sword Interval is good as well. But the vast majority of the content on the platform is specifically designed to appeal to people who never appreciated comics.

Idk about you guys but i personally think art and waifu shit really carry it, i genuinelt think most web-manwha are just kind of shit they all follow pretty much the same tropes and/or stupid aura farming stuff yet the art and action(of the more famous and obvioudly more "invested on" ones at least) is mostly high quality.

I fapped to Silent War and LOTNB is a guilty pleasure

But yeah, in an almost inverse of Isekai a whole lot of them involve a badass reincarting as a high schooler for some reason, others are MMO propaganda, either by turning real life into an MMO but with a gimmick or some SAO ripoff (these are the worst ones).

I do find it fun to compare Manga and Manhwa. Their takes on vengence are "interesting". The Japanese tend to have wronged characters tend let karma do the work. Korean characters tend to give karma a helping hand or play the long game like Edmond Dantes.

>The author seems to insert tons of religious themes in his comics for some reason, but oh well it was a good one

My issue isn't the religous themes, my issue is that it just came across as a religious tract/propaganda the way it was used in the ending.
BAM out of nowhere the MC finds jesus and gets hope in his life.
We aren't shown anything about J before his chapter to indicate this, even though he's around for most of the story.

it's a very heavy handed metaphor and its clearly coming from a devout christian. It either should have been made subtler, or there should have been more hints earlier on.

J is barely a character at all in the story, and more a deus ex machina, with how little characterization and showtimes he's given. Maybe they could've thrown in a joke about him being a carpenter.

These are mostly an approximation because the selections are based on what was recommended the most in all the archived threads I could find. And since we rarely have Webtoons threads there isn't must data to go off of.
I also tried to omit anything that was too anime leaning since this is a /co/ themed list and Webtoons have started uploading manga to their platform.

I've actually read a bunch of these, but never/rarely seen discussion of them on /co/. In part it might be because, like ya said, webtoon/webcomic discussion is pretty rare.

I dont rememeber if i ever saw The little trashmaid, love advice from the great duke of hell, family man, or super secret mentioned on /co/.
I don't remember much of family man, since i think i read it 6 or more years ago. but otherwise they were all interesting, though they're all fairly different from eachother.

I've seen lavender jack mentioned on here, and room of swords mentioned on here. But they didnt get much discussion sadly. Hooky got more discussion than those 2, but I haven't seen it brought up much.
This reminds me that I do have to finish lavender jack at some point.
Room of swords was better towards the start, but it suffered because its a complex story and webtoon's editorial team forced them to reduce 5 seasons to 3.
I'll suggest some other ones to you, and you can check them out and decide whether to add them to your list.

That reminds me there is an ongoing Japanese webtoon heavily inspired by The Count Monte Cristo. I think the English name is "Noble's Revenge".

I think I've seen a manhwa even more bizarre than that. It was about more or less One Punch Man fights eldritch horror Jesus. I can't for the life of me remember the title and it was from the 90's.

I've only used it to read Da Yomanville Gang and that got really boring real quick, read Tower of God on it till I swapped to fan translations to not be behind a shit ton of chapters.

That's seems just limited to LINE Webtoons. Are you aware Naver/LINE Webtoon just one of the many Webtoon companies? Their largest rival is Kakao. There are other companies like Toomics, Lezhin Comics, and Toomics. I there's a French Webtoon site called Delitoon and has translated Kakao webtoons and there's also a webtoon version of Last Man.

The boxer isn't that weird of a story, it's just the ending feels like an asspull.

It's a "relatively" grounded martial arts (well specifically boxing) series aside from that. It's not super realistic, but its not lookism where you have some characters chopping metal safes in half with their bare hands.

The genre shift for Lookism is be more understandable when you look into PTJ's past. He was born into low class household, read Shounen Jump manga, wanted to be a comic artist, bullied at high school until he moved to another school, became a Kpop star with his group, give that up when webtoons became thing, and started Lookism. Since then Lookism became a start of shared universe based on minor characters that appeared in the comic, like Manager Kim.

The boxer didn't really have a genre shift. It's was just a brief part in the ending that complete comes out of nowhere.

As for lookism, I think the genre shift is because shonen style gang fights is more profitable than the original story and he can milk it for longer.
The earlier chapters had a lot more horror or thriller elements.

>You can suggest things
>These are mostly an approximation because the selections are based on what was recommended the most in all the archived threads I could find. And since we rarely have Webtoons threads there isn't must data to go off of.
>I also tried to omit anything that was too anime leaning since this is a /co/ themed list and Webtoons have started uploading manga to their platform.

Should I explain my recomendations or just give a list of webtoon names/links?

I think the LINE Webtoon wiki also has English originals. The Korean Webtoons has a lot of webtoons from different companies and some of them never got English translations.
