What the hell are you talking about? The Disney remakes all changed major shit and everyone bitched about it. Dreamworks is probably taking the smarter approach by just painstakingly recreating the thing they already know works even if it would be better to not remake it at all.

I refuse to watch this above all because I hate the actress for Astrid. Two days before premiering this movie she said that Americans should be all about diversity and tolerance and all that trust fund rich bitch nonsense. That bitch alone is why I hate this movie.

Hiccup and Astrid never had chemistry not even in the animated film. Tale as old as time, Beta Dork And the Cheerleader. The only reason Astrid who looked down on Hiccup and even hated him for briefly being better than her at dragon affairs ended up loving him is because the Bad Writing wills it.
Their romance has always been wish fulfillment shit. So alpha most popular girl in the village is going to bother with a beta dweeb like Hiccup. And Hiccup being the chief's son is more of a detail formality because I'm sorry Hiccup has nothing going for himself and before you say "But he discovered dragon taming" nope that was Hiccups deadbeat Mary Sue mother who no one hates for being a deadbeat. God the writing is so awful for these movies when you actually think about it.
