I know this post may sound retarded but I feel that Teen Titans Go getting meta has destroyed the OG Teen Titans for me. Not only that, but it has also destroyed other cartoons and anime as well. Before, I would often fantasize how cartoons and anime have their own world/universe. I know they weren't real, but it didn't matter, it was fun to imagine their world as different from the real world.
The problem begins with teen titans go. I didn't actually mind the show at first, mostly because the cast behaved like cartoon characters and they were treated as such by the script and VAs. But then they went on about how they are just VAs pretending to be the cartoon characters, and that just sucks the joy out of seeing them as their own characters.
Like the show ruined Raven for me, as I don't see Raven on the screen anymore but instead, Tara Strong as Raven on the screen, and Raven knows she's a fake character in a cartoon and that really bothers me as it doesn't make her feel real in her own world.

This happened to me too but with Space Jam 2. The characters no longer being cartoons from another world but instead just pieces of data on WB’s server is so soulless to me.

A few of my favorites are the multiple Control Freak episodes that are just strawman arguments about the original series
Crossover episodes to just vent about the criticism
Episodes that are just the writers self-inserting to talk about themselves and their job
Meta humor that is just referencing pop culture things either in DC or stuff from the 80s
Or just every episode that is the characters explaining why the joke is funny or what it's referencing to pad out the writing

It's really depressing watching the show get renewed for more seasons. The writers have ran out of ideas and the show appears to decline further in quality. In spite of this, the show gets rewarded for that. Executives are really the spreaders of filth in the animation industry in general.

It’s a troll show at this point and youre falling for the bait, it’s able to get away with it and be successful with kids by being goofy about it. The movie did it best and was able to resonate with adults who laugh at characters being jerks and nearing superhero fatigue without even realizing it and by hopping on the meta humor trend before it got real stale.

I don't watch it, but I feel like every clip I actually see from Teen Titans Go that winds up circulating social media is either some extremely fucked up disgusting fetish shit, or it's the Titans bitching and moaning about people IRL not liking them or them meeting some famous character or celebrity.
Just today I saw a clip that was just the writers bitching about Spongebob winning the Kids Choice Awards over Teen Titans Go, and it just came across more sad and angry than it came across as them poking fun at their rivals. The writers seem to have a major inferiority complex.
