Why doesn't he just study for some certificates or go to trade school or something to advance his career and move if he's not happy with his current work and life? It's not like he'd make it into the music and art field. Well, he is a pretty good composer, but he should just continue as a hobby.

Squidy lost all sympathy I had for him when he got literally everything he could ever want after moving into that Squids-Only HOA neighborhood and went back to his old life with Spongebob as his neighbor because he got bored. He has no fucking right to complain about the yellow man after that.

the point of his character is that he's too far up his own ass to do anything that'll actually help him since giving up his passion for a better future would be too much of a blow to his own ego, the reason he's stuck in the predicament that he's in is because he sucks dick at music and is in constant denial

Squidward's whole point is that he refuses to see how he can actually betters himself because he thinks he's already the best at what he does. It's why his art and music suck and he only ever gets better with a little nudge from Spongebob. If he had a slightly, even just slightly, smaller ego he'd do exactly what you're suggesting.

the ultimate thing about squidward is that he started the job as a temporary thing until his music career takes off. He knows in his heart of hearts that he's never going to achieve that but taking any action now means admitting that dream is dead, and more importantly means admitting that he's spend at least a decade wasting his time at a job he hates. Better then, far better, to put that off another day, to go home and play a little clarinet and drink a little bubbly.

Its easy to dunk on him from the outside looking in but being able to admit something went wrong and everything sucks is a beyond Herculean act of willpower for normies

He tried his clarinet career multiple times. Even sucessefully conducted a band. His life isn't as bad as you're painting it.
Plus, he's a home owner. Life could only improve if he could have a family. And he would if the writers weren't nerfing his stats on purpose.

Trust me, you don't want to be in your 60s alone.
Cancer, strokes, all sorts of diseases coming your way. It gets much worse if you're alone.

And im saying it because I feel forced to take care of a 67 year old aunt, because she has no one else to take care of her. I look at her and see myself in a worst position because my sisters don't even have kids yet and I don't either.

Squidward has no actual skills and if he tried to be good at something then he'd end up failing. He has a job, home, and capacity to enjoy his life. But he hates his job, can't get along with anyone, and the universe has decided to pick on him whether he's at fault or not.

Indecisive people are the ones who cant lock onto anything. You will believe that you just need to acquire more knowledge to improve your life and once you know it, you're 50 and unfulfilled.

The game right now is to hold onto a stable job, get a partner, children and That's it.
Bro, i know people with only the 4th grade who have multiple kids, a hot wife, and are way happier than me with a certificate.

Yeah, and if you make the wrong choices when you're young, you don't get any of that stuff. You get one chance at life and if you fuck it up then too bad, you'd be better off killing yourself and hoping that reincarnation is a thing.

He is a representative of grumpy egoists who only think about themselves, but also unsuccessful people who cannot achieve in life and are doomed to be ridiculed by a terrible society.

But on the other hand, Squidward had the best moments of all the characters in the series and honestly he is the real protagonist of the series. In addition to a terrible boss and stupid neighbors who ruin his life, he also has his rival from high school and college Squilliam Fancyson who is much more successful than him. Fortunately, there were moments when Squidward defeated Squilliam, but he could not have done it without the help of SpongeBob. Otherwise, SpongeBob could learn a lot from Squidward how to behave in the real world, because many in Bikini Bottom do not like him, they only like him for Krabby Patty.

Realistically, Squidward and Plankton are the best in the series.

Don't forget that one of the main reasons why Squidward plays the clarinet so poorly (not always), is that SpongeBob used the clarinet as a toilet brush.

Cause he thinks he doesn't need school. He thinks all he needs is for people to "finally" recognize his talent and fame and fortune will outright bow to his feet. If anything, he'd go to a local community college to attend the classes there in the hopes that the teachers all praise his "natural talent", only for Spongebob to be attending one of his classes and cause him to seethe endlessly as the dumbfuck sponge taking these classes for fun ends up upstaging him without trying. That's just his lot in life, he's the kind of guy who wants fame and fortune but barely budges an inch to get it due to the expectation of it otherwise falling into his lap.

Not to mention the more important part, the focus and end-result of his art, that being self-validation. Almost all of his artwork that he does in his spare time are sculptures and self-portraits, very well done ones, but obviously done for the sake of vanity. He plays the clarinet often, but not for the sake of entertaining others but for his own enjoyment as seen by how he will brazenly scream at his moronic neighbors to pipe down while he's practicing but then loudly play so hard his squeaking can be heard across the whole neighborhood. And the few times he's ever tried to be an artist in a business sense or in teaching, he's only ever shown interest in imposing his vision upon the production, never what his clients or students came for.

Squidward's got talent, he's clearly a renaissance man when it comes to devoting time to expressing himself through painting or song or dance or what have you, it's just that almost all of the effort is to express the idea of "I'm a genius, look at me, praise me for my talents". He's got the sort of vanity and self-importance that if you commissioned him to draw a still-life of Jellyfish Fields at sunset, he'd end up drawing a rock formation shaped exactly like his head partially blocking the sun, and then get upset if you tell him to redo it and claim you "don't understand art".

Squidward intimately understands at a visceral level that he is in a show, as a character, and if he steps out of line he gets erased. Squidward is actually greatly sympathetic to Spongebob as Spongebob must perform as a caricature of his real self to preserve the show, with Squidward purposely making a scene with Spongebob and Patrick because it goves them reprieve from being animated in horrible ways. They are currently trying to find a way off the pages without being erased.

I was in that thread and you're conveniently leaving out the fact that many of the replies pointed out that people can have different hair colors than their parents as a result of recessive genes, and that Violet's hair is likely so dark as a play on light absorption and her power being invisibility.
