>The big 4 of Cartoon Network, ‘Adventure Time’, ‘Regular Show’, ‘The Amazing World of Gumball’ and ‘Steven Universe’ is now all returning for new spin-offs and movies.
Original shows? Nah, just keep milking nostalgia.

It's the safe option that executives like, they just don't trust wholly new ideas anymore.
That said, I'd argue creatives and the public are also partly to blame for this. Creatives for not being able to make something as appealing to the public as old properties, and the public for mostly just caring about old properties.

Also, new properties can't just do well at the box office, they have to be absolutely stellar, often to an impossible extent, it's not fair to expect something new to immediately become the next SpongeBob, but executives just aren't willing to have small successes if they can just bring back something old for an almost guaranteed success.

I can’t blame the creatives too much, most never even got the chance to make something new.

Yeah, I was trying to be as objective as possible, but the creatives are definitely the least guilty ones here.
