I don't know exactly how much sense it would make otherwise, either. If Omega made her body after the distortion, I guess she just got real lucky that she was still able to connectto Kat's systems or whatever just fine. My guess is she made the body just before the distortion, knowing that it would happen, but not knowing what would happen in it, perhaps as some kind of safety precaution so she could survive the distortion? Who knows, we'll see I guess.

Sure it is. She mapped all the locations that used enough resources to house something like Omega, then deliberately excluded every location that was connected to Omega to avoid drawing her attention. Once you've marked every location that ISN'T connected to her, the unmarked connections would, directly or indirectly, have to lead to Omega. In typical Gunnerkrigg Court fashion it's presented after the fact, overly simplified, and told rather than shown, but at least the principle makes sense.

I really hate this repetitive pattern of setting up some kind of conflict only to neuter it and end the plot in a single page. It's genuinely worse than if the comic suddenly devolved into a battle shounen.

That's honestly something I've been wanting any webcomic to do for decades now.
Write an alright story, introduce time travel, then actually update older pages when the time travel occurs and turning it into something amazing.

But no, what we're seeing is the "golden timeline". We're seeing the final timeline which has already been altered by every form of time travel and retroactive writing that will ever happen in-universe.

Clarification, It doesn't say she didn't record it, only that she ignored it. Nor did she say recording anything about Omega would get them caught. She said she couldn't do anything with the assumed location she got or she would be caught.

The negative space thing is a contrivance but not totally ungrounded. The idea of being able to get anywhere except there leaves a vacuum in the map and Omega/the court trying to cover tracks and keep the location obscured could result in any visible connection to Omega deliberately being a dead end.

I thought it was pretty cool honestly, the permanent timeline Easter eggs, the two characters that allowed the retconning to happen, the password system. The leadup (overindulgent "everyone's fucking dead" bad ending fakeout) and the new alpha timeline (Vriska) are easily more debatable in quality but the change itself was cool, especially with how far back they went.
