True, but if you look at an episode guide, you’ll notice they produced them in 4-7 episode chunks every few months. Comedy Central will have renewed South Park for X amount of seasons, but then asked them for more episodes at any given time of year knowing they could be made quickly. That’s just how they operated until Season 7-8 when the yearly production pattern got more streamlined.

This type of shit extends to a lot of shows these days and I don't know why. Once upon a time, shows would be 20 episodes a season, release an episode weekly, and drop a new season consistently each year. Now? We have have "seasons" that don't even get to 10 episodes sometimes and it takes years for it to come out.

In the early 10s, Matt and Trey all ownership of SP's streaming rights to Paramount. Paramount was the one trying to renew on their deal with Discovery.

Also the episode counts started getting sliced to next to nothing as retaliation for 201 getting censored/banned and then by Parker and Stone collaborating to fuck over Discovery as they were caught in an jnterview admiytubg they reducedc the epidode count and took 2024 off to fuck over Discovery.
