They would be best friends but there will be times post-Spongebob gets on his nerves and he explodes on him- The same exact he sometimes does with Patrick and even Krabs/Squidward that one time.

People who say they'd "hate" the other are autistically seething but yeah, seasons 1-3 Spongebob had more range of emotions and writers weren't afraid of putting him in situations that pushed his limits or forced him to be the straightman.

The last time I recall they did this was an episode where his cousin visits which funnily enough is basically this exact set-up: Spongebob meeting an clone of himself with more exaggerated ineptitude and it played out more or less how I described it.
