They certainly seemed to have more interaction than him and Cappy. I love the scene about where someone asks if Rodney and Cappy are a couple, and Cappy says, "Nono- He is?" and Rod goes, "I am?" as if they were actors who just now realized that they were supposed to have already been playing their parts like they were falling in love.

Why'd the industry hate Blue Sky so much? Is it just because it was a U.S. studio based in neither SoCal nor NY? They felt threatened by mainstream animation being made outside those circles and wanted to keep Blue Sky humbled?

Despite the effort they made for Cappy to have a backstory, it got scrapped, and even if Cappy had a background the plan to pair her with Rodney made no sense. It just looks like Rodney shallowly chooses a hot girl over quirky relatable Piper.

Cappy was a bland, uptight corporate stooge and had no reason to want Rodney. More likely to bang some chad or the villain.

I really liked her and personally find her my my type, but she was outclassed by Cappy as a dating choice for Rodney. Rodney had a choice between a boisterously immature outmode with a school girl crush on him or a literal super model female executive with empathy who over time came to like and help Rodney out of respect for his cause and not out of a crush like Cappy.

It doesn't. It is the classic "princess falling for the pauper" archetype where despite someones luxury and higher standing they are able to recognize and appreciate someone who by their society would treat as a lesser. Rodney being able to break that class boundry with his vision and ideals is a pivotable moment and marks his rise from underground personality to an actual figure of change. He never had any interest in Piper and didn't "forget" about her. By that point of the movie he was trying to find Bigweld, something Piper herself encouraged him to do early on in the film.
