Kyle's stories don't really work for John and especially not the John that Millennials and Zoomers grew up on.
Kyle's stories were built entirely on the fact that more self-conscious and unsure while John has always been a stern and confident figure.

In War Journal and Green Lantern guardian wars John stole Kyle and Hal stories of becoming a god of will and them realizing he is just da best.
