In recent years, I Am Weasel has gone from a show that wasn't really talked by Cartoon Network fans, but is still regarded as being a good, solid show and a CN classic, but for the past decade or so, the reception for the show has been more in the negative side, with most cartoon critics not saying its good and even 4chan boards like /v/ and /co/ not liking it either. The IMDB rating also has severely gone down.

So what happened? The show was quite popular when aired and was never regarded as bad back then. My first thought was that something internally happened with the show's staff, but David Feiss is a talented artist who hasn't been controversial, so it can't be that.

It didn't survive the transition past the 90s like other cartoon cartoons did, and so the Elder Zoomers and younger have no taste for it, same with cow and chicken.

Everything that's in Early Comers has fallen off and its the people who watched the Latecomers who are talking about cartoons thee days.

Even as a child I despised this cartoon, same with Cow and Chicken. I also have a suspicion this was the show that made everyone stop drawing butts in cartoons.

Go watch this show /co/bros, absolute kino. Strucuted like a Golden Age cartoon with Weasel and Baboon having different roles/jobs in every episode. Retarded zoomers and tranny contrarians says its a shitty Ren and Stimpy ripoff despite not even being close in style or tone (it was inspired by Huckleberry Hound). The characters of Weasel and Baboon aren't similiar to Ren and Stimpy, Baboon is far more envious and tries to fuck over Weasel since he wants to succeed . The finale is fantastic too, I Are Legend.

If you gave Mario and Waluigi their own duo cartoon, this is how I assume their dynamic will play out.

This, the truth of the matter is that Movie animation is a more well-paying and respected form of animation in the US.
The only showrunners who stayed in the TV realm of animation post-08 crash and subsequent compression into a few shows for which most were demoted were those who either had the clout to be at the top echelons and basically granted showrunner positions on mainly literal who shows for the rest of their days or were to enamored with the idea of showrunning. The rest either moved onto Movies or scrubbed out.
