That looks terrible. It looks like a monkey. Even many fictional monkeys and gorillas look more human than that.

>>149060868
Things like a more realistic artstyle, camera angles, and shading make beanmouth look grotesque in 3D. Beanmouth in 2D looks decent because the eyes and mouth are just drawn on, and they aren't like a computer model.

I'm getting real tired of beanmouth in 3D.

If Elio bombs real bad, then one could hope that would spook Disney into killing off Disney and Pixar beanmouth art styles. As for other studios, I don't know, maybe weeding out the ones who keep favoring or spamming beanmouth (showrunners, artists, etc.) might help usher in different art styles. Wishful thinking, of course.

Other studios handle this much better by building new head models for different camera angles.

The fact that Pixar, the OG 3D animation studio, hasn't figured this out is embarassing.

hyperrealistic rendering with cartoon character designs is unsettling and incongruous. almost like the whole movie being a gross-up closeup. like watching plastic toys move about, but not in a toy story way

The difference between your example and Pixar is that your example keeps its characters and environment relatively simple to help them look like 2D animation using 3D animation, while Pixar continuously pushes 3D animation to its technical boundaries without designing characters that can fit the realistic aesthetic of the environment. This results in characters with completely unrealistic designs (the "calarts/beanmouth") having hyperrealistic textures that make them look mediocre at best and horrific at worst.

The problem is that Disney won't fire the shitty Leftist activists that they hired. Art style is merely one issue.

The other road block is Disney relying on shitty sequels that retarded normies will buy automatically like Zootopia 2. Disney is not suffering like how they deserve.

I remember people asking if the protagonist of Turning Red is the daughter of Steve Universe because literally is the same design

The real answer is it was something made for cheap old school 2D Japanese cartoons with shoestring budgets. Having in be in super realistic 3D is basically like those โ€œfamily guy IRLโ€ images.

Bad comparison because the Peanuts movie is supposed to look like the old specials and they mad it as such. Turning Red, Elio, and Luca all draw from different artistic inspirations but fall back on this weird 3D Ghibli pseudo anime + Ardman look.

All three are a mishmash of different styles while the Peanuts movie is one singular artistโ€™s style.
