Yeah, kinda. But they'd been disassociated for a while by the time of Marvel Rivals so Rivals was just a major factor compounding onto that. The Marvel Rivals devs probably never even read West Coast Avengers to know she was the one who adopted Jeff.

Pretty much this, Marvel Rivals just exacerbated an already existing issue - when Kelly Thompson started writing Jeff's own comic for the Infinity online stuff, Gwen was suspiciously absent for the first 1-2 years despite literally being his owner. I think it may have been due to them trying to push Gwen with the X-men / mutant side of things really hard and thus she couldn't live with or take care of Jeff, who knows.

That's since changed and now Gwen appears quite frequently in Jeff's comic as his primary caretaker but as others pointed out, the damage had been done and the dissociation between Gwen/Jeff was widened by Rivals.

I think the official canon is that Jeff is his own landshark, and isn't anybody's pet, necessarily. But he mainly spends time with Hawkeye's daughter and Gwenpool in his solo run, and is also kinda sorta Deadpool's pet.
Gwenpool gave Jeff to Deadpool to spare him, knowing that she was unlikely to keep a consistent run, unlike Deadpool

I can't stop thinking about someone pointing out they fucked over the Inhumans so bad Jeff has replaced Lockjaw as the company mascot pet

They reference Gwen in the descriptions for some of Jeff's costumes in addition to his "comic accurate colors" recolor skin being called "Adopted Avenger." They also reference Gwen in the in-game lore for Jeff along with Elsa Bloodstone, Kate and Deadpool.
