>>149087696 (OP)Movie has genuine 10/10 visuals, music, and animation powered by the pure burnout and turnover of its art team. Seeing this in the theaters was crazy every single time, noticing the sheer amount of small details put into every frame.
With that said, the film's story, premise, and pacing are massively flawed. The 15 minute Gwen intro, while incredibly emotional and well-animated, seriously drags out the movie's first act. It felt like the movie was originally intended to start with all of Miles' scenes that introduce him into the story, but the Gwen stuff was added to help the Spider Society shit make more sense.
Speaking of which, the multiverse plot where now every single Spiderman is a part of the "canon event" death cult is a very dumb premise. It was obviously added in response to the fan backlash over Miles when he was first added to the comics about not being a "Real Spiderman" because he was black. However, this is stupid because Into the Spiderverse already had Miles go through this exact arc without the heavy handed themes around story canon and general Spiderman lore.
Hopefully Beyond the Spiderverse unfucks the multiverse plot and has a satisfying conclusion to the story without going through animators and artists like used condoms. It was incredibly delusional on the producer's part to think they could finish the third film in a year when Across the Spiderverse had fucking patch notes for each round of edits they made to the film while it was still in theaters.
