So Deltarune is gonna end up like Homestuck did, right? Too many cooks in the kitchen and too many plot threads to wrap up in a satisfying way.

I also wonder if the release schedule is less Toby being picky and more of him waiting on the people he's commissioned to finish their part. Remember abortedslunk? He delayed Hussie a couple times for updates because he was taking time to make something that didn't even fit the art style

Mostly because of the different format. Homestuck was a page-a-day for years, so its not surprising Hussie got burned out and the quality suffered.

By the time Chapter 7 is released, Deltarune will have been in development for a longer period of time than the original run of Homestuck. Anticipation builds expectations. The longer people wait for an ending, the more they'll nitpick its imperfections when it arrives. The advantage most video games hold in regards to endings is that they release all at once, so there isn't a period of years and years for people to think about how they want it to end. Deltarune's long term episodic nature loses that advantage
