Why is this format so prevalent in media made for teen and pre-teen girls? Is the safety of uniformity disguised under an illusion of individuality supposed to appeal to them for some reason but not to boys?

it's cost saving measure for both show production only having to animate the same body over and over instead of keeping track of several with different proportions, and doll production so you can just use the same body mold and just give them different hair
