It's a great movie that could do without the needle drops. The gangsta rap postman moment was an okay gag, but I think there could have been better ways to approach it that wouldn't have cemented the movie in such a specific era of cultural history, and that god awful pop song montage is THE FUCKING WORST. Whoever pushed that through was clearly hoping the film would get a Frozen-like "Let It Go" moment, but it really sticks out like a sore thumb, immediately dates what could otherwise be a timeless classic film, and doesn't even push the narrative nearly as well as a classic orchestral score montage could. That montage could have been really touching.
It would be great if someone could get hold of the SFX and Dialogue for that sequence so we could eventually get a rescore.
