Gurgi being somewhat irritating is honestly small potatoes compared to just how borked the overall pacing and tone the movie has. Gurgi is incredibly easy to point at but honestly every character just flat out sucks in their own way.

I have such a very soft spot for this film but even then I highly acknowledge its faults.

I've read the book; it is a surprisingly thin world created over the course of five stories and would likely have to be heavily buttressed with oc material to make the entire thing worthwhile as a viewing experience- because you're never going to have the money needed to let the visuals so the heavy lifting for you a la Lord of the Rings.
