Older comics art sucked ass compared to what we have now.
The words were to make the readers feel like they got their money's worth out of a 25 cent comic that was 20 pages with one storyline at most.

Spider-Man unironically got way better when they started doing multi-comic arcs that get you more invested in them.
It's also very funny that ALL of the iconic moments in Spider-Man mythos happen within the first 126 comics.
126 out of 800 comics in the ASM run mind you...
Sometimes you get funny dialogue though, or get them praising asbestos as a "miracle" thing which is hilarious in hindsight.
