blame disney for pixar's problems - they released three movies in a row direct to streaming and expected people to pay to see them in theaters
even if some incels and /pol-tards here didn't get all screechy with shouts of "DEI DEI" at elemental and elio (and turning red and anything else pixar has shat out in the last few years) and they approved of every topic and storyline of any pixar releases, the same thing would happen ABSENT some other factor (e.g. Inside Out being a sequel to a popular original).
in streaming, pixar still does well, even with these movies, so they would need to do say a sequel to elemental or elio (or luca or something else) and see how that flies theatrically.
and especially need to keep something like elio off streaming for six months instead of putting it on there in 70 days after july, like currently planned. but they won't do that and lassie wouldn't have been able to prevent that, either!
