Whilst the early chapters of Beastars were great, it lost it's way completely in the second half.
Thankfully I think even the creator felt that because they moved back to doing Beast Complex, where the short stories and different spotlights get far more out of the setting than all the Melon arc did and felt closer to what was appealing about Beastars in the first place.
